The Secret Behind the Closed Door

Chapter Nine

It's been a while since I updated this...but things are getting more serious.

{Day 5, Friday}

Tash and Victoria decided to search for the mysterious man. But before they do that, they had a discussion first inside the science laboratory.

"How can we even get out of this place?" Victoria asked her friend, "The guy from earlier has the keys!"

Tash thought and thought, until she came up with an idea.
"Then we should go look for him."

Her idea was too dangerous that Victoria disagreed to it in the first place.
She asked her, "Are you insane, Tash?! He's a killer while we're just a bunch of high school students! We don't even know what that guy's capable of."

The girl did not replied, instead she let out a sigh of frustration.

They were both frustrated and tired at the same time, Victoria uttered as her tears rolled down from her eyes, "At this point, the killer might be looking for us and we're gonna die."

"He's gonna stab us to death with his knife...I don't want to die yet, Tash."

Tash looked at the bloody knife that Victoria used to stab Julia. She took it and gave it to her and spoke, "If the killer's looking for us, we might as well look for him too."

The other stared at her with confusion, "And what if he finds us?"

She replied, "We just have to kill him right before he kills us."

Victoria took the knife stained with her former friend's blood and tightened her grip on it. "I'm not sure about this.."

Tash walked towards the door and looked back at the other with a serious expression.

"It's kill or be killed, Victoria."

They started to search for the man, they looked everywhere, yet there's no sign of him. They looked every single one of the rooms around the school, but no one's inside but a bunch of dead bodies.
The girls started to get anxious, where could that man possibly go? Did he already left the building? Or was he hiding just to surprise them behind their backs?

Time passed by, the sun was already gone. Victoria glanced at her watch, it was already 7. That was the time when the teachers dismissed the class and students were free to leave. Tash and Victoria couldn't go out yet since the keys were not found. If they could just climb up the gate, they would be free. Unfortunately, the gates were built high to prevent students from skipping class so they couldn't climb up.

While walking around the hallway anxiously, they heard a noise.
"Did you hear something?" Tash mumbled to the other.
Victoria nodded in response, as they both stared at the direction where the noise came from.

"Step, step, step."

The sound of footsteps resonated across the hallway.
Someone's coming, they already knew it. Was it the killer? Who knows?

Tash pushed Victoria to a classroom and kept uttering "Hide! Hide! Hide!"
They both peeked outside the room to see who that was.

They saw a guy holding a mop, and sweeping the floor. It was the janitor that Tash encountered few days ago!

When Tash saw the janitor, she did not hesitate to open the door and approached him.

"You!" She shouted, "Why are you still alive?! Why are you here?!"

The janitor stared at the girl, without any idea of what she was saying.

"I have to clean the school before I leave-"

The janitor was cut off when Tash spoke, "There's a killer on the loose!!"

"Excuse me?"

Victoria joined the conversation, "We saw him killed our innocent math teacher! I think he's the one behind all of this mess."

"We have to get out of here before he kills us all!"

The janitor was confused, he scratched his neck as he answered, "Kid, I don't get it. At first you and your friends were trying to open the private room, and now you're saying that here's a killer on the loose?"

"Huh?"

"Are you trying to make a fool out of me?"

"What- No!" The girl replied.

Luckily, Victoria was there to defend her friend, "Sir, she's telling the truth! We saw the man killing a person!"

The janitor didn't respond, instead he laughed at both of them.
"Hahahahaha!"

Tash didn't gave up, she said to the janitor "We can prove it to you!"

"Prove what? That you are a bunch of liars?"

She got mad, and clenched her fist. She had the urge to beat the janitor, but she decided to remain calm.

"Let's just go, Vic. Let's leave him be."

When the girls were about to leave the janitor behind, he suddenly asked them in a monotonous voice, "Where do you think you two are going?"

Tash looked back and yelled, "We're going to-"
Her eyes widened in shock, and she felt like her heart skipped a beat when she saw the janitor holding a knife covered in blood.

The janitor spoke to the girls again, "No one's gonna leave this place alive, now that I found you two."

He also added while grinning, "After all, it's kill or be killed, right?"
