Joining the tributes

Around me, I feel like the world just stops. I turn, with a dead pale face, to look at my Mother, two rows behind me. "What did I say? I told you so." I whisper with tears threatening to fall.
"Hurry up, Althea, we don't have the World's time on our hands." P. Holland grumbles.
One stare at him and the words slipped out of my lips. "I hate you too."
Before I knew it, I was taken to the Eupelite with Jace to meet the other tributes. One stupid tribute from D1 stepped onto a bomb we were training with and she was splattered in 14 bloody pieces across the training room.
"*hit! Now I'm alone!" The male tribute swore loudly. I couldn't stand swear words.
"Yeah...you sure are." I smirk. I gesture to the others. "Wanna be allies?"
I pick up a sword and a bow, aim and fire in less than three seconds. The tip of the sword skewers the "heart" of the practice dummy. Everyone except Evan, the D1 tribute claps. There are some whoops. Jason's eyebrows shoot up to his northern forehead.
Then lunch is announced. Me and Jace stay behind, I to tidy up and Jace...I don't know why.
He leans down and whispers in my ear. "We'll have everybody being our ally at this rate, everybody that there is nobody left to kill." His voice...I recognise it scarily. Now I know who he is.
He's always been kind of brooding, and for some reason, I liked that. He used to subtly whisper to me in the hallways of school. Jason Davey was my ex.
He was too boring for me. He would be no problem to kill.

"Jason...It's over between us, and you know it." I refrain from slapping him in the face.

"I know it's over, but I still love you and I have to protect you. For the moment will you please just put up with me?" Jace nudged my chin. I smiled sweetly.

"Well..." I jerked my head down and quickly bit his finger so he winced. Then I ran to my room in the hotel.
