Senator's Daughter

Diego was walking down the sidewalk, hands behind his head. He was whistling some song tune nonchalantly. Diego didn't normally walk around, but he just felt like it today. Angel hadn't called any of them in a couple of days, but according to the papers she was solving her own case. Which was fine with them, he could use a break after that last one. He heard a struggle in the alleyway he was passing by, he decided to check it out.
"Just give us the bag, nothing will happen to you." A very big guy said to a scrawny looking kid with a skateboard. The guy was huge, built like a fucking tank. Mr. Tank was next to another guy, wasn't as impressive but was still pretty fit. Plus he had a tire iron in his hand. Turn around Diego. Turn around. Diego began walking forward. Wrong way Diego. Just stop what you're doing, and walk away. He has a fucking metal bar  in his hands. Okay I guess we're doing this now. Diego put his hand on the guys shoulder. We're going to call him Tank.
"Leave him alone." He mustered up some confidence and glared at the titan in front of him. Diego was a fit guy, but compared to this dude, he was a fucking ant. Why do genetics? The guy laughed and turned around to face Diego completely.
"What're you going to do about it? Pipsqueak." Tank said, his buddy next to him started laughing and tossing the tire iron from hand to hand.
"I appreciate the effort man, but are you stupid?" The scrawny boy squeaked out from behind the two culprits. He reminded Diego of Kyle, maybe that's why Diego was doing this. Diego sighed and grabbed onto the tire iron Tank's buddy was holding. He kicked him square in the chest and knocked him to the ground. Diego ducked behind Tank and hit him square in the back with the tire iron, causing the guy to double over. However, it didn't take Tank long to recover.
"Boy I'm going to fucking knock your teeth in!" Tank shouted and spun around. Diego took a hit square in the jaw, which sent him sprawling to the ground. Tank's buddy made it up, and kicked Diego in the gut. Boy did this bring up some memories. Diego had fought guys bigger than him before though, living up in the poor part of town will give you that kind of experience. Diego crawled a few feet away and got up as best he could. Tank walked forward, stupid grin on his face. Diego was so going to knock it off him. Diego tackled Tank's legs like a football player then scrambled off him. He sprinted out of the alleyway and down the street, hoping they wouldn't pursue. He ran for at least a block before stopping and taking a breather against a wall.
"I fucking hate it here." He growled and pressed on his ribs, hoping none of them were broken. He made it out lucky, a few bruises, bloody nose, and a black eye. His phone started to ring, just his luck. "Yeah Angel, give me a few. I'm on my way." What a lovely day this was turning out to be.

Fifteen minutes later, Diego showed up at Angel's place. Kyle and Charles had beaten him here, Hajime was always last. Kyle surveyed Diego when he walked through the door. He was about to comment but Angel beat him to it.
"Who'd you piss off?" Angel raised an eyebrow and walked to a cabinet, pulling out a first aid kit for Diego.
"You should've seen the other guy, he was huge." Diego scoffed and took the kit gratefully.
"You should start working out." Kyle grinned, he looked so proud of his joke. Diego stuck his tongue out childishly at Kyle. Charles rubbed the back of his neck, he gave a small chuckle at the playful banter. An explosion was heard and the door burst open, smoke billowing into the room. Hajime walked through the smoke, waving his hand through the air and coughing.
"What the fuck Hajime?!" Diego whirled around. Hajime put a finger in the air as if to say, give me a second, busy dying. Once he was done with his coughing fit, he put his hands on his hips.
"I wanted to make an entrance. You all are boring." Hajime vaulted over the couch and sat in between Kyle and Charles.
"I think I need to reiterate how much I hate Hajime." Angel said in a deadpan voice. Hajime shot her some finger guns. Someone is in a good mood. Very dynamic moods in the studio today.
"So Angel, spill, what do you got for us?" Diego piped up and rubbed his hands together. Angel grabbed an article from the coffee table and began to read it out loud.
"Yesterday at 11:02 p.m. Senator Andrew Sarc's daughter, 11 year old Delilah was kidnapped. Senator Andrew Sarc is requesting immediate assistance from Polis's local vigilante group. "My daughter is the most important thing in the world to me, I want her found, and as soon as possible." Sarc says. Will they respond?" Angel tossed it on the paper, her expression dark.
"That was 20 hours ago." Diego rubbed his jaw, it was still sore. "And they're just now considering it a stranger abduction after ruling out the divorced mother?"
"Kyle." Angel shot a look at him. Kyle sat forward and joined his hands together.
"Long term stranger abductions of children of Delilah's age are rare. They represent only half of one percent of all missing persons cases per year. But, they are usually more likely to be fatal. Of the children that are abducted and murdered, 44% die within the first hour. 75% are gone after three hours. Virtually all of them are dead by 24 hours." Kyle messed with his hands nervously.
"So we're 20 hours late on something we should've started immediately." Angel crossed her arms.
"What if she's already dead?" Charles looked up at Angel.
"Until we have reason to believe otherwise, Delilah is alive. Oh and we're assisting local law enforcement on this case." Angel grabbed her bag and walked out the door. The rest of them did the same.

The five walked into the precinct, the chief immediately walked over them and shook each of their hands.
"I'm Chief Bens, thank you for coming out here to help." He got to Kyle and Kyle put his hand in his pockets.
"The number of pathogens passed during a handshake is staggering. It's actually safer to kiss." Kyle said informatively. Bens blinked confusedly before writing it off.
"So where can we set up?" Angel asked. Bens began leading them to an empty conference room.
"Chief, has there been any request for ransom yet? This could be a political stunt seeing as Sarc is a Senator." Diego asked as they walked up the stairs.
"Not yet but we haven't written off the possibility entirely." Bens unlocked the door for them and they walked in.
"I'm going to need a laptop with access to this department's database." Angel said in a no questions asked  manner. Bens hesitated before going and grabbing her one. "Alright, Diego and Kyle, I want you to go through and look for everyone Sarc knows, find out if he has adversaries. Basically check through his dirty laundry." Kyle sat down at the laptop and Diego pulled up a chair next to him. "Hajime go coordinate with forensics and analyze every piece of evidence they have. Go back to the scene if you need to." Hajime nodded and ran out. "Charles, you're coming with me to speak to Senator Sarc." Angel and Charles headed for the door.
"If there's anything you need, let me know." Chief Bens said, ultimately getting ignored. They had a little girl to find and roughly four hours to do it.
