Internal Affairs

Angel walked into the living room with a small brown box in her hands. "What is it, what is it!!!!! Show us woman!" Hajime bounced up and down on the couch. Diego was sitting next to Hajime on the couch, trying to calm his hyper ass down. Charles was in the armchair and Kyle was sitting cross-legged on the floor.
"Our badges our here. Along with details on our first case. We're going to assist in a NSA internal investigation. It was either this one or another arson case, they didn't have very many interesting cases at the moment." Angel talked while cutting open the box. She tossed each of them their badge. They were black and opened up to have an ID with 'Special Agent' on them. On the bottom there was the FBI badge.
"What does SCU mean?" Charles asked.
"That's the name of our task force. Specialized Crimes Unit. Also don't loose these, Cruz will have my head." Angel tossed hers carelessly on the coffee table. She then pulled out the file details.
"Isn't an Internal Affairs case a bit of a huge jump for our first official case?" Kyle asked a bit nervously, they haven't majorly messed up yet but it was a possibility. They were still arguably human.
"FBI OPEN UP!" Hajime shouted and vaulted over the couch, waving his badge around. Diego ran after him with his finger gun.
"I don't see the problem." Angel said while watching the two children run around her apartment. Charles had taken some of the paper files and began reading them.
"They're suspecting the Chief of Undercover operations in the National Security Agency. Should be a piece of cake to crack." Charles said sarcastically. Kyle agreed with Charles, this was no easy case.
"I understand the concern, but we're never going to grow if we don't challenge ourselves. If you don't want to do this case I can call in and ask for another." Angel looked at them. Kyle sighed and shook his head.
"No you're right, we need to do this." Kyle scratched his neck nervously, Charles agreed.
"Now, it's quite a drive, we can brief the two idiots in the car. Bags are in the room!" She shouted loud enough for Diego and Hajime to hear so they knew they were about to hit the room. They all grabbed their bags and headed for the car.

Angel was driving while Charles and Kyle were discussing the case details with Hajime and Diego.
"Case information keeps leaking and every time they're about to make a major break in the case the operation they're going after they go disappear. They're starting to suspect foul play." Charles handed Diego the sheet of suspects, the primary one being the Chief of Undercover operations. Hajime peered over Diego's shoulder.
"So we gotta find who's the undercover spy in the undercover division of the NSA. That's irony if I saw it." Hajime remarked sarcastically. "But besides that, there is like no information here, just a basic summary. No details." Hajime scoffed, what where they supposed to do with this?
"For security reasons the rest of the case information will be given to us when we get there by Cruz. He's overseeing our first case by the way. He promised he'd stay out of the way however. Also since the four of you don't have guns an Agent has been assigned to protect each of you when necessary." Angel stated while glaring at the road ahead. She had horrible road rage, but she was managing to keep it in check whenever she drove with the four dunderheads.
"Ewww, babysitter." Hajime grumbled and sunk into his seat.
"Seriously, that sucks." Diego agreed with Hajime.
"One, you two children could use a babysitter. Two we still have to prove ourselves in a more professional environment." Angel tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
"Fuck you too." Hajime spat at Angel. He didn't need a babysitter, he's a grown man. He would puff his chest a bit. The other three guys laughed at him. Hajime and Diego fell asleep in the car while Charles and Kyle played a game to see who could name the most cities in the Ancient Rome era. A couple of hours later they arrived at their destination. Because it was an undercover operation they were in downtown Polis and the building they were at was just another normal skyscraper. They walked in the building, Hajime had his hand in his jacket pocket, gripping his new badge, it comforted him. Cruz greeted them by shaking their hands. Kyle shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Thank you for coming as quick as possible. If you follow me I'll lead you to a room where I can finish briefing you all on the case." Cruz said quickly. They felt a sense of urgency but it wasn't as prominent as their last case. They had time, and a kid's life wasn't on the line for this one. Angel watched as Cruz swiped his card then put in a pin code. She glanced at the keypad and instantly figured it out. Cruz had some oily ass fingers. Besides the point. They walked into the room, it was a secure office with a window overlooking most of the agents desks a floor below this room.
"This is Mr. Ortiz, he is the one who introduced the case to us and proposed it's importance. Without him we probably wouldn't have made any significant progress." Cruz would introduce them to each other. Hajime and Diego were skeptical as always.
"The NSA is responsible for global monitoring , collection, and processing of information and data for foreign and domestic intelligence and counterintelligence purposes, specializing in a discipline known as signals intelligence." Ortiz began. They all looked at him as if to tell him to get to the point. So he did.
"We were investigating a certain sector of the black market that began to grow popular. It's called the Honeybees Web. You can sell and buy anything your twisted mind can think of here and it's untraceable due to the amount of servers it bounces across. In these files you can skim through exactly what you can find there if you see it fit." Ortiz handed each of them a couple of files. "I made a special break in the case when I decided to send a couple agents undercover and they were able to bring back a hard drive with access to the Honeybees Web. Unfortunately it's encrypted and we've been trying to crack it for some time now. In that time one agent has died, and two have gone missing." Ortiz watched their reactions closely. Angel flipped through the file she was handed.
"Someone on the operation ratted them out?" Angel asked.
"We think so. We want you to look into it and hopefully rule out the possibility of a mole or, worst case scenario, expose the mole." Cruz would finish for Ortiz. "Each of you will have an Agent with you to protect you if you come across the mole and things go south. Per request, Angel shall not be receiving one." Cruz said, obvious disapproval in his voice for Angel's choice. Diego raised an eyebrow at Angel.
"What? I have a gun." Angel said defensively. She just didn't want to be followed around.
"Ahem. We have set up a secure office for you on the 13th floor with any resources you may need. Let us know if there's anything else." Ortiz finalized. They walked outside and received their bodyguards, who escorted them to their workplace.
"13 is bad omen." Hajime grumbled.
"Superstitions are exactly that, superstitious." Angel would walk into the room and toss the files on the table. She pulled a paper out of one of the files, it had a bunch of names on it. "This is every NSA Agent in the operation, everyone is on here including Ortiz and our bodyguards." Angel set it back on the table for the rest of them to look at.
"What if it is one of our bodyguards Angel?" Kyle looked at the agents, who were standing there completely impassively. "Shouldn't they like wait outside?"
"They're assigned to you at all times so you would notice if one of them were to get away. Plus there is only one or two suspected moles, they aren't going to shoot us in full view of their other agents. But to comfort you all, we'll zero in on them first." Angel patted one of the agents face. "You alright with that?" Angel asked jokingly, of course, no response, they're trained to be completely impassive at all times. She rolled her eyes and slid the laptop they provided over to Kyle.
"Okay freckles, look into their background's, see when they joined the investigation, if it was after the third week you can eliminate them because they first agent was already killed by then." Angel instructed. The rest watched pensively as Kyle worked.
"Why'd you choose me of all people to man the computer?" Kyle grumbled, he hated people looking over his shoulder.
"You have a doctorate in computer science." Angel said in boredom.
"Two of them joined after." Kyle said.
"Two left then." Diego sighed in half relief.
"Check how long they've been an agent and what cases they've worked on." Angel instructed once again. Kyle did as he was told.
"Twenty plus years for both of them. One of them worked on all drug cartel cases and the other transferred from the CIA."
"That rules them both out. You'd see a more variety in their cases if they were a spy due to being in whatever best suited the criminal agenda at the time, and CIA has nothing to do with this case." Angel assured the rest of them. They all let out a breath, relieved.
"What next?" Diego piped up and asked Angel.
"Now we divide and conquer. First, Kyle eliminate all the lowest of Agents, this had to be someone with access. They didn't even let half the agents know they had gotten the hard drive."
"Why aren't we going off the suspect list?" Charles asked.
"Me and Hajime are, the rest of you are going off of what's here. Kyle, divide up the list and you all can look into backgrounds. Oh! You can also interview, isn't that cool? We have the authority to interview people now." Angel grinned and walked out of the room with the main suspect list and one annoyed Hajime.
"Why me?" Hajime asked as they walked down the hall to the Chief of Undercover Operations office.
"Your skill set is being the least used in this case. Diego, Charles, and Kyle all have useful skills they can apply on their own." Angel answered. She knocked on the door of the Chief's office. It buzzed and opened. Angel, Hajime, and Hajime's bodyguard walked into the office. They would have to be wary around him seeing as he was the prime suspect.
"Ah, you must be Agent M-" Angel quickly cut him off.
"Angel. Will do just fine." She responded tersely.
"Angel." He inclined his head apologetically. "I'm Chief Rodrick." Angel reached over to shake his hand. She noticed a watch on his wrist, it wasn't a regular watch, it had the flash drive they recovered on it. She narrowed her eyes.
"Is that the drive that was recovered? Could my colleagues and I take a crack at it? I heard you were having trouble with it." Angel gave a small smile.
"Sorry but for security reasons I'm going to have to decline. I hope you can understand." He sounded sincere.
"Sure." Angel inclined her head. Hajime had suspicious flags going off all over his brain, was this really even a question who the mole was?
"Anyways aren't you supposed to be figuring out who the mole is in my unit?" Rodrick would ask curiously.
"To properly due that we must assess all parts of this operation." Angel clarified.
"Ah, so I'm a suspect as well. Unfortunate." Rodrick stood up and walked to them. "Let's take a walk." So they did. They began walking through the halls, Rodrick seemed intrigued by their past cases and how they solved those so they discussed those until they came across a lady and a teenager looking lad.
"I know you did not just tell me my best friend died in a biking accident.. I'm outta here!" He ran to the elevator.
"Ricky!" The woman scowled.
"Well. He seemed upset." Rodrick stated. "This is Adriana Taylor, our head Honeybees intelligence specialist. The man who just left was our confidential informant Ricky Cowell." Adriana shook hands with the two of them. "Adriana, this is the newly formed SCU who are assisting us with the Honeybees investigation."
"Nice to meet you." Angel said politely. They discussed a few details before Hajime and Angel departed ways with Rodrick. "Let's go back and check on the rest of us." Angel prompted. They walked back inside their workspace to see them all busy at work. They had all narrowed down the list significantly with certain parameters.
"So we've narrowed down the list down to 33 agents, all with the status, and possible motive to rat out any agents." Charles informed them.
"I hope Chief Rodrick is on that list, he's fishy." Hajime scrunched up his nose.
"Indeed he is." Kyle would nod.
"In particular these 10 agents were working closely with the missing agents. So we thought we would completely zero in on them and conduct some interviews." Diego circled ten names on the paper. Angel nodded approvingly.
"Alright f-"
"First I need a bathroom break!" Hajime declared and walked out of the room with his bodyguard. He found the bathroom after a few wrong turns. Too bad his bodyguard didn't give him directions. Hajime would go inside and do his business when he heard some scuffling. He slowly opened the stall door.
"Hey Bernie?" Hajime called out, that was the name he just made up for his security agent. "Cool, privacy." Hajime shrugged and started washing his hands. He would wring them out as he walked out of the bathroom. He saw Bernie tied up and gagged on the bench outside the bathroom. Hajime's eyes widened but before he could react, a gun clicked to the back of his head. Well shit.
