Your PoV;

At some point I blacked out while staring at the moon, I say 'at some point' because it seems that all I can recall is marveling at how beautiful the moon is, then nothing. I came to about an hour ago, around dawn I believe, the sun was still painfully bright yet the sunrise was positively gorgeous.

I recall hearing the tweet of birds and the sweet sound of wind rustling through the trees, I went to sit up and suddenly I felt what felt like a book underneath my palm. I turned my head and my theory was correct, somehow I was holding a book that was clearly well loved. This book smelled of an antique book shop with a hint of mildew, the cover was scratched and torn in places, though compared to this book's spine the cover looked brand new!

The spine of this book was practically nonexistent, torn and shredded like a dog's plaything, there were small pieces of, what I assumed, used to be cardboard. It looked as though someone wanted to rip out the pages but couldn't figure out where to start, there were large chunks of paper missing in the shape of either teeth or claw marks.

At this point I have wasted almost an hour considering looking through this book, and I have made my final decision  and that decision is to open it to see what's inside.

Unfortunately it seems that most of the pages are horribly water damaged, causing them to be unreadable. I guess that explains the mildew smell. Oh wait, there's still one page that is barely damaged! Let's see what it says...

something awful happened

THEY have discovered me

THEY reached out and grabbed me,

entombed in THEIR awful embrace

THEY grabbed and wouldn't let me go

THEIR claws dug into my skin

THEIR cold sharp teeth broke flesh

and i felt the most horrible pain

imaginable

i give you one warning;

fear THEM for THEY are angry and

hungry, if THEY were to reach THEIR

full potential something long dead

would rise once again to take it's throne

and when that day comes we will pray

that it will have mercy

may she help us in our time of need.

she has no name, i don't think she ever

did

though she has no name she still has a

title, Iridescent, a name earned for her

gem that shines like no other and calls

upon space for it's freeze that rivals that

of the strongest winter

if anyone stands a chance against

THEM then it is most definitely her, and

when her battle is won make sure to

always thank her for her gifts, for she is

smiling upon you

Upon finishing this entry from what I know now is a journal, I hear what may be a distant explosion. For some reason I instinctively look towards the sky to see something falling from above, as it gets closer to landing I only now am able to see that what was falling from the heavens, the object in question is a peice of the moon. Luckily from where I am I can easily see that the peice of moon was going to land in the ocean that I'm a safe distance from.

"I wonder what could be on that chunk of moon..." I ponder aloud. "Guess I'll have to check it out." Right as I conclude my thought a loud, but distant, splash is heard.

"The timer starts now."
