Two days later
Emery Evans POV

People were starting to find out that Fred and I had broken up, but nobody knew why. Fred and I were often seen as the "perfect couple," so it was quite a shock to many when we broke up. We were still friendly in the halls and on the pitch, it was actually alright. He didn't tell Ron or their friends about why we broke up... and I really appreciated it.

I didn't really want people knowing I slept with Draco. I wasn't necessarily ashamed, it just wasn't something the whole school needed to know about. I don't even know if Draco knew that we broke up, I haven't seen him.

I didn't expect him to wait two months for me, I wouldn't be surprised if he had moved on and gotten with someone new. I didn't feel like I loved him, there wasn't any compulsion there. I didn't get butterflies when I saw him or jealous when he flirted with other girls. I just know the world most powerful love potion smelled like his cologne. And who knows, his probably didn't even smell anything like me.

Today was the first day of class since the breakup. I took my seat in potions, I was one of the first few students in the room. I arrived early to Transfiguration this morning as well. Slughorn wanted to revisit the complicated potions we've done so far this term before we moved on. Today, we were reviewing how to brew Amortentia. The rest of the class filed in, Draco still sat next to me.
-
"Okay students. If brewed correctly, your finished potion should look and smell like the sample one I have up here. Take a look and a smell then compare it to your own. Miss Evans and Mr. Malfoy, you two come and verify yours first."

Draco and I stood up simultaneously and walked to the front of the classroom. Slughorn's had the pearly sheen and looked just like mine, which was a good sign. We both bent down to smell it at the same time and Draco mumbled something.

"Can you back up? I can't smell anything over your strawberry perfume."

My breath hitched in my throat and I coughed a few times before walking back to our table. Mine still smelled the same, Quiddich gear and wood, books, peppermint and his cologne. The thing was... I wasn't wearing any perfume today. I wasn't wearing any perfume today.

Draco came and sat down like normal, I don't know if he was aware of what just happened. The next group of students went up and it continued until the whole class had a turn to test their solutions. I couldn't bring myself to look up, I could tell my face was all red.

We bottled and labelled our potions to be graded and were then dismissed. Before I could leave, Draco grabbed my shoulder and pulled me close to him so his mouth was next to my ear.

"Heard you and Weasley called it quits, a shame."

I could feel him smile before he let me go and walked off. Butterflies. I felt the butterflies. I took a few deep breaths before being able to remain composed. There was Quiddich practice tonight, I just had to make it through the rest of the day.

For some reason, I had every class with Draco this term. I had some time before my next class so I walked out to the courtyard. Even though they closer with Fred, Hermione and Ginny still wanted to be friends with me. I decided that I wouldn't tell them about what happened in potions, I don't think they'd
want to hear about my apparent love for Draco when my relationship with their friend and brother just ended.
-
"I know I make you all practice way too often, way too hard and for way too long, but I have some good news. We're currently in first place for the Quiddich Cup! Let's get out there and make sure we're ready to keep that lead."

It was important that we worked our arses off this next week, there was no way I'm losing this lead. Slytherin has won the Quiddich cup for the last five years, and this one would be no different. No matter now crazy the rest of my life was... it could not affect my team or my game. Never. Nothing is more important to me than Quiddich.

After the basic run through we do at every practice, I decided to try something new.

"Listen up! We play Gryffindor next and they are the fastest flyers. Based on our last game against them, we all need some work on our speed. We're going to do some racing today! Find a partner!"

The team divided into three group and lined up at one end of the pitch. I've never done this before, it'll be fun.

"Alright, you and your partner will race. Whoever wins moves on to the next round. When there are three of you left, you'll all race. Whoever wins that one has to race me... if you win... practice is over early. Sound good? Alright. Team one, you're up!"

The team played through the race until there was one person left. I flew over and lined up at the starting line, this was going to be interesting. This final race was three laps around the pitch, which was just some light flying for me.

"Okay, Malfoy, let's see what you've got."

"You'll be seeing me fly past you in the first lap, Captain."

"In your dreams."

Pansy counted us down and we took off, speeding around the pitch. I'm not even going to lie, Malfoy was doing alright. Of course, alright is not enough to beat me... so he didn't.

"Good effort, Malfoy. Because I'm feeling generous... run through the warm up drills again then you can all go."
-
Everyone else was gone, it was just Draco and I left in the change room, I was trying to work out the practice schedule for the next month. Quiddich Cup finals were the first week of June, so we had just over a month to prepare.

"You're a better flier than expected, Evans."

"It's what I spend my spare time doing... I would certainly hope so."

He slowly looked me up and down and started towards me.

"You weren't wearing any perfume today, were you?"

I bit my lip and put my arms around his neck, drawing him closer to me.

"No, no I wasn't."

Our lips connected.
