You lay awake next to a sleeping Nicky. You pushed back a strand of hair, admiring his face.
You cuddled closer, ready to turn in for the night.
As you closed your eyes you whispered, "Our kids would be so beautiful..."
"Thanks to you."
Your eyes open wide and you see Nicky smiling lazily at you.
He pulls you even closer and repeats," Our kids would be so beautiful...thanks to you. You are so beautiful."
You laugh quietly. He puts his head in the crook of your neck and keeps praising your beauty.
You sigh and you both fall asleep.
Asleep in each others arms.
Right where you both belonged.
