I steady my breathing as I sit upon the firefighter's lap who rescued me, seeing a large Hospital come into view as we're pulling up to it. We're in Crescent-Port which is only five minutes over from Sully and I recognize this as their largest hospital. The other firefighter applies the parking break and I see an older woman standing there, she's a doctor and has two security guards with her.
They have a wheelchair with them and one of the guards slowly open the door and the doctor walks around, pushing the wheelchair up to the door, but standing back slightly.
"Are you Payton?" She asks. "What's happening?" I respond.
"How about we take you inside, Payton and we'll discuss that then? But not before a medical checkup."
"Sweetie, hop down." Suggests the firefighter. "We need to go out again, our job just was to bring anyone... Alive to a place of safety."
"We're in Crescent-Port. I'm from Sully-" I try to argue when one of the security guards grasp my arm, pulling me out and the other guards closes the door, but not before the firefighter handing him something and the fire-truck stars reversing out.
"Come on, sit." Smiles the doctor and I'm helped into the wheelchair, but a moment later, straps have been wrapped around my upper torso and around my legs and I try to not cough, feeling a muzzle placed over my mouth as the doctor starts pushing me towards an entrance, but it's a back one.
"W-What's going on?" I manage to ask, beneath the muzzle slightly. "Just safety precautions, you've come from an infected zone." The doctor responds.
I sink down a bit, feel anxiety beat rapidly and memories race before me, flashbacks and I start to tear up as she wheels me down a corridor, the guards following closely behind. I see people are everywhere, being treated the same as me while others are walking around freely, but most that are free are sitting out in reception.
This place is packed and I can hear and see a Tv screen showing several news reports, most branded: 'The End Of The World' and showing people running, screaming and those monsters I came face to face with.
People are listening intently and then a security guard, opens a door to a small room off to the side and I'm taken inside. The doctor parks me against a wall near a bed and she takes a seat down at a desk, waking up a computer while a security Guard leaves and the other ones stays and places stuff down on her desk. I realize it's my phone and wallet.
Did one of the firefighter slip it from my back-packet? No, wait... I don't have the rest of my stuff, it's in my cubby back at Carl's bakery.
"W-what's your name?" I ask. "My name is Holly, it's nice to meet you, Payton." She says, glancing up at me for a second, but then turns back to her computer. "Yes, I'm into the system." She says a moment later and then picks up my wallet and I see her pull out my I.D Card. She looks confused.
"You don't have medical insurance, Payton?" She asks. "N-No." I choke out and then I see her look deeper into my wallet, finding my public healthcare cards. "Okay, here we go. This is fine too." She says, taking my details down and then she places my stuff back into my wallet, leaving it off to the side, next to my phone.
"I've located you." She tells me, spinning around to look at me in her chair. "Do you understand what's happened, Payton?" She asks me. "The beginning of the world's end?" I suggest. "Looks like it." She responds. "At-least I'm safe." I choke out.
"Yes. So, Payton. We just have a couple of questions for you and in the mean-time, others will be doing their best to sort the mess outside."
"What are they?" I ask.
