Gabriel.
I take a deep breath in, feeling a little anxious, then breathe out. Then I move forward with helping Payton pack up what's left of her and my stuff. Two small bags we're brought in for us and we're packing up what's left of the thing's we came here with. They even returned our wallets, but have not given us our keys or phones, citing safety as the reason.
A bed has also opened up for me at a rehab inpatient centre. A nurse dropped by to inform me. It's located in the same building as we're Payton's being sent. It's 15 minutes away. Crescent-Port's a rather big city that it has a total of one large hospital and two smaller hospital's. If I recall correctly, Sully where Payton came from only has one hospital and that's it despite being rather big it's self.
"I can't believe we're being transferred out of here." She says.
"Neither can I." I respond. She's looking pretty anxious about it. "You still don't want to go do you?" I ask her.
"Isn't that obvious?" She snaps, zipping up her bag. "Payton." I tell her, moving her and my bag aside and taking her hands in mine. She sits down with me on the bed.
"I don't want to hurt you emotionally or in anyway, or make you mad at me, but...
What would Carl say right now if he was here? I've never met the guy so I can go off what you've told me, but you have phrased him as being really loving and caring about you and you're co-workers."
"He'd say..."
I nod for her to go on. "He actually warned me I'd end up in Hospital in the long run if I didn't sort out my problems, and now I am. I feel pathetic I let this happen."
"Please don't feel that way... And you're not pathetic. Thing's are just on hold for a bit now."
"I'm going to get throw out of my course."
"You won't, Holly said thing's like that won't be restarting right away. Anyway, you have a valid excuse for non-attendance. She can send your campus in Sully a letter, telling them you're in Hospital."
"I don't want to put my life on hold, Gabe."
"Then, what's your alternative? Do you have a back-up plan?"
"I-I don't know..."
"Then go. If you're not going to do it for yourself, then do it for me. Please." I beg her, giving me puppy eyes. She ends up smiling and kisses my head. "Everything's going to work out in the end, Payton. You just need to give it time." I smile.
She sighs, nodding. "So, you. How do you feel about be forced to go to rehab?"
"Fine with it, actually. And I'm not an involuntary patient, Payton. I want to go."
She looks a little peeved with me now that I've said this. Maybe she just needs time to warm up to this whole situation and once she's there, she'll be better.
"Heyyy, guys, happy Thursday morning!" She says, sticking her head in. "Holly." I respond while Payton says nothing.
"An ambulance will be here in the afternoon for you both and I'll be there not long after to help you both settle in." She tells us. "Great." I tell her while I hear an angry sound come from Payton.
"I'd rather you drug me so I don't have to go through the arrival process."
"Payton, all that would do is delay it. You would be called up later and questioned as per normal once sedation wore off. And we won't give you any medication." Holly tells her.
