Chapter 01
Threatened
THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO..

"Sigurado ka ba riyan, Bathala?"

A young goddess slowly poked her head out on the doorway, careful not to be seen by any of the older gods and goddesses that were currently gathered in the Palace Hall.

Yes, Bathala is her father. The supreme ruler and creator of all.

One of the gods, Dumangan, the god of harvest stepped forward. "We understand they're your daughters but," He paused. "They're not full-blooded deities."

It was true. Mayari was not a full-blooded goddess. She was half human, half god. Their mother died right after she gave birth to her and her sisters. Afterwards, Bathala took his girls to Kaluwalwatihan, where all the deities resided.

The younger goddess leaned closer, trying to hear the conversation more clearly. Biglang nag-salita ang kanyang ama.

"They might be half mortal, but they are not mortal. They are gifted with abilities and powers like us gods. My decision is final."

He was the one who makes the decisions. He was the decision.

"Ano pa nga bang magagawa namin?" Aman Sinaya, the primordial goddess of the sea threw her hands up in the air. "I don't even understand why we had this council. We all know you were going to let your three half human daughters preside over something that only deities should anyway."

Bathala's lips curved into a threatening smile. "Do we have a problem, Aman Sinaya?"

Of course there was.

The goddess simply gave a mock smile in return.

Of course his fellow deities were doubtful and uncertain of his decision. Something with that did not sit well with the gods and goddesses who were simply looking at each other in the palace hall, communicating through their eyes.

There were several rules deities have to follow at si Bathala pa nga mismo ang gumawa at nagpatupad nito. But, there were two very important rules regarding the humans;

Do not kill a human and do not fall in love with a human.

Bathala's rules were superior. Then again, he is the supreme one and there was nobody in the entirety of the universe that is higher and more powerful than him. Everything he says is final. So, the deities simply nodded, bowing in respect as they all proceeded to leave the room without protest.

Mabilis na tumakbo si Mayari matapos ang pagpupulong, not wanting the older deities to know that she was eavesdropping on them.
