Chapter 04
How Does One Defeat a God?"Bakit ka nandito?"
Apolaki kept his head up in the sky, not bothering to look behind him as he asked the question. Kilala na niya kung sino ang dumating. Thirty seconds ago, the sky was clear and the sun shone brightly. He was admiring it from below. This was his peace. A sudden harsh wind assaulted hm and he felt drops of rain fall on his face.
He knew who was there.
He heard a loud 'tch' before he heard footsteps walking towards him, the sticks and grass crunched under the person's feet as they did.
"Ikaw ang dapat kong tanungin," A deep but feminine voice replied in a cold manner. She didn't look pleased at all, compared to the usual arrogant expression she always wore. "Anong ginagawa mo rito?"
She then gestured around them, referring to Earth. She referred to it with such disdain and disgust.
All he knew was he came here to blow off some steam after another argument with Mayari. He would never admit it to anyone else but the goddess was getting under his skin. Apparently, it calms her down. So, he secretly went down on Earth and found himself at peace.
And he hated that he felt that way.
He chose to answer her anyway. "Wala."
She just shook her head in disappointment. It was clear that she wasn't fond of his sister, mainly because she loved humans more than any other deity except for Bathala.
Apolaki just snorted. Ayaw niya rin sa mga taga-lupa. He didn't need to meddle with them since they're all beneath him.
Anitun Tabu questioned, turning to look at him. "Baka naman wala pang nangyayari?"
"Bakit ba madaling madali ka?"
"I want that fraud of a goddess out of Kaluwalwatihan as soon as possible," She hissed.
Biglang napakunot ang noo ni Apolaki. "Bakit siya lang?"
"Her sisters aren't even that good.
He turned to glance at his aunt. "Are you threatened by Mayari?" Matapang na tanong niya.
Why was he even surprised? But there was a reason for her arrogance. She had plenty to brag about. Kahit gano'n ang ugali nito ay isa ito sa mga pinakamagaling, if not, she was the most powerful and excellent deity after Bathala, Amihan and Aman Sinaya. The three primordial deities.
For years, she was the best. But, everything changed when Bathala's daughters came into the scene. Lalong lalo na si Mayari. The goddess worked hard and she was a perfectionist.
