"Happy birthday, to you." My voice was barely above a whisper while I bit my lip. "Happy birthday, dear Yona." Tears were threatening to fall as I continued to sing.
"Aren't you happy?" I mumbled to myself, wiping the corners of my eyes. "You told yourself you weren't going to cry anymore." I stood up and tried to drown out the voices of my parents arguing.
"You're rich and you have everything you want." I walked over to my bed and placed the tiny cupcake on the night-stand beside me.
"You're very strong and your quirk is one of a kind," I laid down on my bed and placed the blankets on top of me, wanting for everything to just stop and to let me catch my breath.
"It will all be better. I promise," I closed my eyes as my tears dried. My arms wrapped around my body, acting as a defense.
-
"Please stop it, Haru! She's just a kid!" my mom let out a loud scream, one that makes your stomach turn.
I tried to stand up, ignoring the pain all over my body.
"You're going nowhere in life with that pathetic quirk of yours!" My father shouted. I looked behind me to see my mom. She was surrounded by men holding her down.
I tried to open my mouth to say something, but blood just came out. My father stared at me, expressionless.
I grabbed the two swords in front of me, running towards my dad as fast as I can. I raised my hands flipping the sword and aiming straight for the man, but he dodged it.
He had the ability to slow down his opponents movements just by touching them. He placed his fingers on my shoulder and grinned wide.
I gasped and stopped right in front of him, my arms extended far enough that the sword grazed his neck. A cut was seen underneath his chin from my sword.
"Nice job. You finally managed to land a cut on me. But that's not enough," I widened my eyes as I saw my father's fist coming right at me. I closed my eyes and clenched my jaw, ready for the impact.
-
"You can't keep doing this! She's your child!" My mother cried out. I watched as they took her away with force.
"You can't keep hurting us like this!" I wanted to throw up. Everything within me was threatening to spill and I tried my hardest to control myself, but as soon as one of my father's guard hit my mother, all hell within me broke loose.
My mind was hurting like hell and it was very hard to breathe. It was like I couldn't move nor control my own action. My body was acting out of pure anger.
This was the first time I used my quirk for something other than fighting my father. I wanted to save someone. To save my mom.
I ran towards the group of men towards my mom and started to hum. Five seconds in, everyone started to drop dead, their bones breaking loudly. Blood started to come out of their eyes, ears, and nose.
I was scared. Very scared. I hated my quirk because I had no idea how to control it. It was too powerful. I didn't want to kill.
My mom stayed still, covering her ears along with my dad. I was humming and humming. I was very mad.
My mom was begging for me to stop, knowing I had no control.
She ran up to me, hugging me. When I felt her fingertips against my skin, it was like everything had stopped.
The pain in my head was simmering down and I was starting to finally gain full conscious.
I was crying.
