GEORGES POV
The three talked for awhile about stupid stuff. Mostly just Ava telling George more about herself and him answering any random questions she asked. And of course clay couldn't care less about what George was saying, he was too busy with his arm around her all cute and shit. George couldn't stand this.
He hated how much of an affect clay had on him. When was he going to accept the fact that clay would never think of him the same way, not only that but he was just plain disgusted by the idea.
"It's crazy how you two have been best friends for like 5 years but are JUST meeting? how did you manage" Ava was just making small talk but it just made George so angry.
"I dunno but it has been weird being with him in person, it's so different" Clay replied, finally looking at George in the eyes instead of swooning over his new pet.
"Different, yeah" George said. As if perfectly timed, Henry came by with the tray of shots and George didn't hesitate to grab two more.
"woah George already?" Clay asked, clearly a bit concerned.
"What do you mean already? we've been here for half an hour already"
"Oh shit has it been that long already? Ive gotta go warm up. Bye Clay!" she said waving as she walked off.
She was perfect, George thought. Bright smile, beautiful eyes, perfect body, cute style, effortlessly funny, not to mention she's in a band?? Could it get better than that? Jesus, why don't I just date her then he thought to himself and let out a small laugh.
"See I told you you'd like her" Clay said taking a step closer to the shorter.
"Yeah she's.. perfect" George realized it sounded weird to say out loud so he tried to correct himself, "I mean perfect for you"
fuck. that obviously wasn't helping Georges case at all.
"I mean she's really cool but we did only just meet" he admitted.
George let out a sigh of relief, thank god.
"Yeah well duh, I just meant she's really cool and you guys seem like a good match, that's all" George was now just starting to feel the affect of the shots he had taken.
"yeah I guess ur right." Clay reached out and grabbed Georges arm and started walking, leading them somewhere.
"Clay what- where are we-" Just as he started talking he realized clay as only leading them over to the small bar. Not anywhere secret or exciting like he was secretly hoping.
Clay grabbed a shot from the tray and George grabbed another one for himself as well.
"Cheers to- uhhh" he paused to think.
"Cheers to being friends!" George blurted out. What the fuck why would I say that?
"ok, cheers!" clay smiled and they both threw the shots down.
To georges surprise, clay grabbed another shot and was getting ready to drink it when he paused to wait for his friend. Normally 5 shots wouldn't be an issue for George, except for the fact that he hadn't been drinking much since University. Clay on the other hand, had just turned 21 so he had definitely been drinking a bit more than George recently, plus this was only clays second drink.
Without thinking about it any further George grabbed another shot and downed it, clay following. Just in time, Ava, another girl and a guy walked out onto the small stage area.
Clay of course rushed up to the front but George stayed leaning against the bar. The room wasn't massive so the stage was still in view. The lights dimmed slightly and they started playing. George didn't know what he was expecting but either way he was impressed. They sounded really professional for a little friend group band.
