Chapter 6
She could feel them around her, watching her with ravenous eyes.
Jia knew they had the Energy as well. She could sense it, barely contained in their bodies. They were different than the people at Fort Velarde. They used their Energy everywhere, in any way they want. They used it to haul Jia on the uneven wooden stool.
They used it to encircle her with thick ropes that bound her wrists tightly making them hurt and bleed the more she tries to wring her hands out of it. Her feet were secured at the foot of the stool by what she could guess as duct tapes.
Her loose top clung to her skin uncomfortably due to the sweat that accumulated. It was too hot and humid, well, especially humid. But, that was all she could make of her surroundings since they all made sure she was prevented from seeing anything. The blindfold was wound tightly around her head making it ache.
For four hours she sat silent and unmoving, knowing that her kidnappers knew she was awake. But all that time, she didn’t even dare speak or scream or make an effort to escape. There was just one, just one time that she spoke and it was to ask where her mother was. But of course, nobody answered.
So, she sat there waiting for hours, not knowing what she was waiting for, dreading every second of it and controlling the Energy inside of her. She felt so uneasy; something was going to happen, she knew it, she just knew.
“So, I hear the Princess is awake?” a voice drawled from the far side of the room. Feet shuffled, men moved, acknowledging the presence of the new person.
Jia could sense his energy, it was contained and controlled inside of him, but ready to burst any time needed.
“How’s the place? Have you been enjoying the scenery?” the unidentified person mocked.
“The place is not exactly my type, but I have to give it to you, the view’s great. The black creases of the blindfold is very refreshing to the eyes,” Jia said. She could feel the man nearing her. Her heart hammered in her chest, screaming danger! In her ears.
“Well, I’m pleased that we had catered to your expectations. I hope you would have the time to check out our other… amenities.”
“I would love to. I couldn’t refuse because of you amazing hospitality. Tell me, what is this place again?”
The people around them chuckled. She could sense them anticipating something. Something about to happen to her.
Suddenly, a man yanked back her hair. She gasped more in surprise than in pain. Jia fought hard to contain the Energy trying to make its way out of her system. It wanted to fight the man back. She wanted to fight the man back. But, she thought of her mother. Her first before anything.
“Don’t worry, Princess. You’d get that blindfold off soon,” he whispered her ear.
“Stop calling me, Princess,” she hissed.
Suddenly, she sensed a few unidentified Energies entering the area, followed by a voice. It was a sound she knew like the back of her hand, her mother’s screams. They were dragging her inside.
“Noooo!!!” her mother screamed. “Get away from me you filthy animal!”
A sickening sound of flesh against flesh reverberated. Then, her mother’s screams stopped followed by a thud on the floor that echoed.
“What did you do to her!?” Jia screamed. “Mom! Answer me! Mom! What did you do to her, you bastards!”
Jia wrung her hands and struggled to get away from her seat. It was no use. She found silent tears streaming down her cheeks.
