"hello." jisung greeted and rubbed his eyes to wipe the sleep off his eyes– if that was possible.

"hello."

"what'd you bring?" jisung tried peeking into the grocery bag minho brought, as the older placed it on the backseat carefully.

"hmm it's a surprise” minho concluded,

"but I don't like surprises." jisung pouted and minho giggled- yes, giggled, and jisung felt like he'd heard an angel laugh. it sure sounded sappy, but minho's laugh was the epitome of music- to jisung, that is.

minho started driving again, and jisung realized that even in the nights, when everyone else was asleep, Seoul looked alive. the roads were busy with cars and skyscrapers moved around them.

"I didn't know you lived in the city... it's pretty out here." jisung commented, eyes glued to the trees lined in the walking streets and minho hummed in response. they all had fairy lights lit on them, and in the night, the trees shone so bright, contrasting to the dark skies.

the streets were busy with chatter, even at almost two in the morning. it felt nostalgic to jisung. contrast to his house in the deeper parts of the city, downtown felt so alive. jisung remembered all the days he'd spend back in malaysia, when he'd take strolls in the insomniac nights. there was something comforting about the clusters of chatters that lingered in the streets at night, and jisung felt like he wasn't the only one who had trouble sleeping– the city looked prettier in the night, anyways. with a first, he realized he had missed this. he'd miss the feeling of adrenaline that he got at two in the morning, carelessly walking around the city like a free soul, without the fear of being judged, for everyone around him were the same, just looking for a small gateway, even if it was just for one night; a few hours at most.

minho pulled into one of the streets with a sharp turn, pulling away from the loud city. this street was calmer, jisung noticed. although the lively, buzzing vibe still dominated the streets, there was a sense of security, a feeling of home, lingering around them. there were long, beige skyscrapers around them, all identical but the streets were empty and there was barely any light in the streets. despite that, jisung assumed this was residential.

turns out he was right, when minho drove into one of the buildings, with a sign that read 'parking.' and jisung knew they'd reach the final destination.

"let's go, sungie." the nickname slipped out for the nth time that night but if jisung noticed, he decided to let it go. (he liked how the endearment rolled off minho's mouth, like he'd been waiting all his life to say it.)

they got off and minho grabbed the grocery bag before leading jisung to one of the hellevators. it opened with a soft ding! and minho urged jisung to go in first.

minho pressed the floor button that read 19 and jisung tilted his head in slight confusion, "aren't you like, scared of heights or something?" jisung asked.
