Even though I'm pessimistic, I'm not without feelings. We're halfway out of the core of the earth when I stop.
"We have to go back," I whisper.
Mika's grim face breaks into a grin. "I knew you'd make the right choice, En."
We run back… but the core of the earth is empty!
"Giana?!" I shout through the burning core.
Giana surfaces from the molten rock. "Just… go."
"Giana, you'll burn to death here!" Mika cries anxiously.
"That's the point," Giana replies.
"The point of what? The point of the broken pencil?" I say sarcastically.
"No, Ena… the point of this," Giana dives back into the molten rock.
"NO!" we scream.
I've saved Mika from her fire once, I can save Giana from her fate.
I steel myself.
