As I picked up my pace, I could feel the excitement rising in my chest like a expanding bubble, threatening to burst any moment. I felt seven years old again, like I was getting ready for my first sleepover at a new friends house. I had to keep myself from running, and eventually after what felt like forever, I got there.
Unsurprisingly, I was there before my friend Yoongi. He was coming from work, so he had said that he might be a few minutes late.
I didnt want to wait outside the door for him like an idiot, so I gulped down the last of my coffee, the residual heat burning my throat on its way down, stuffed my flask in my bag, and headed into the apartment lobby.
It was even fancier than I expected, with a reception counter and a doorman and everything. Tastefully decorated, it had a woodsy feel, big glass windows, and lots of plants in the corners.
Lots of light, but I liked how the wooden floor made it feel a bit homely and warm. My kind of place.
I headed over to the reception, where a small elderly lady was sitting she smiled up at me and asked who I had come to visit. As I opened my mouth to answer, I felt a hand on press down on my shoulder.
"Yoongi!" I exclaimed, turning around to face my friend.
I hadn't seen him in a few weeks, but it seemed like much longer. His hair had grown out a little shaggier, covering his eyelashes completely, and his slightly serious looking face was warmer than ever, with a tiny smile and a small shine in his eyes.
I knew perfectly well that deep down in there was a fluffy child with a gummy smile, but I figured that Yoongi would need some time to transition from being an exemplary employee to one of my...slightly crazed friends.
"Y/n, great to see you," he greeted me politely, as if I was a client he was on a sales call with. "Min Yoongi, for Kim Namjoon," he said sweetly to the lady at the counter, who smiled and pointed towards the elevators.
"Floor seven."
We walked toward the elevators in silence, but it was relaxed. Neither of us felt any pressure to say anything. I mostly occupied myself looking at the decor while Yoongi, who had been here before, led the way to the elevators.
The elevator doors slid open and we walked in. I punched the number 7 with my fist and turned to look at Yoongi.
It slid upwards smoothly and I resisted the urge to jump, because its just so much fun to jump in the elevator. ( A/N For those of you who haven't tried it you have to- although its supposed to be bad and unsafe and stuff. So maybe not, then.) He made polite conversation as we went up, about my brother and my new training program I was attending.
The seventh floor had three flats, and the hallway was designed in a way that had me thinking of a hotel, with its dim lighting and carpeting. The apartment belonging to Namjoon and Jin was at the far end of the hallway. I followed Yoongi there, excited. I hadn't seen Jin in forever, and I hadn't been to their apartment yet.
Yoongi knocked on the door twice, and it swung open, revealing a smiling Seokjin.
"Y/n!"
"Jin!"
"Y/n!"
"Jin!"
I grinned, walking forward tentatively. "Oh come on!" He said, grabbing me in his arms for a big hug. I couldn't help but smile. I loved his energy, and he was sometimes such a mood. He was my friend who acted the most like my mom, and never failed to take care of me.
I fondly thought of the time a few years ago when he had taken care of me when I was sick, staying alone in my aunt and uncle's house as they were traveling for a few days during my holiday from university.
