patrick's pov:
what had we done?! 24 hours ago i didn't know the woman that my son was dating, or so i thought. now were back here in this mess, we'd been here before, i offered to walk away from my family give everything up or even just to walk away from my wife and keep custody of my kids, but ally feels so guilty. it's good that she's like that because she was the type of person who didnt really care and isn't really big on emotions but when it comes to other people and how it would affect them she is really considerate.
FLASHBACK
ally had gone to Seattle to visit her family and I came to surprise her
*rainy day in seattle*
i knocked on the door and when ally opened it she was shocked to see me
"patrick- what are you doing here?"
she said slowly closing the door and walking out into the rain
"ally, i know this is a lot to spring on you right now but i'm telling you ally, i'm in love with you and im willing to do anything to have you, i won't let you go, not without a fight, i can walk away from my wife no questions asked, she hasn't loved me for years now and we have nothing anymore all we have is our family and that's the only reason we're still together. and ally i'm not talking i walk away from my wife and we date, i'm talking long term marriage and kids"
in her face he could see her heart just broke, she burst into tears, it was strange because ally never let anyone see her emotional.
she was soaking wet and her tight white dress began to droop, mascara running down her cheeks, after a few long loud cries she finally gathered her words
"patrick, no, i'm not letting you walk away from your family, you need to stay with them. go out with Jillian remember, why you fell in love with her, show her that you still care. you can't just give up because- why actually- why did you ever give up? you and Jillian were really in love at one point, don't put all that to waste because of me, i'm nothing special and we both know that. patrick i love you but i can't, and i'm gonna be the mature one and walk away, please let me walk away".
when she said that my heart dropped, i was hyperventilating, she walked over to me
"patrick i love you and i'd never do anything to intentionally hurt you but this, needs to be done and im always here you can always reach out and we can stay in touch and be friends but i can't be in a relationship with you, not right now".
BACK TO CURRENTLY
patrick knew he could never go through that heartbreak again
"ally- i'll be the mature one for now and walk away, i'll give you time to choose but i'll always be an option" i said
"patrick- you need to give me time. whatever i choose there will be consequences. i don't want to lose you, because i love you, i really do, but you have a life. a family, you can't leave that behind. also then there's darby, first of all he doesn't know that I'm in love with his father and I can't date his father and tell him: yeah i've loved him for awhile but now that me and you started dating and we reunited i'm gonna break up with you and date him. patrick, please give me time". ally said with tears in her eyes

ally's pov
text message
ally: hey darby, me and your dad finished up, want to meet at our spot in an hour?
darby: no, we're meeting at my parents house in 10 be there.
ally: wait what. why?
darby: stop. just meet me there in 10 please.
ally told patrick she had to go immediately and dropped him off at his house, she decided to drive in circles around the neighborhood so they had no idea her and patrick met up.
ally had no clue what was wrong with darby, and why he was overreacting but, she just got ready and headed over. when she walked in the door it was just jillian, talula, and darby. no patrick. she was confused since she'd dropped him off just minutes before.
darby: so, why were you with my dad earlier
ally: what- what do you mean
darby: you know, where were you and why were you with him?
ally: dar-
darby: no- you know what, shut up. shut the hell up. what the fuck is wrong with you?! ever since you found out that my dad is "THE Patrick Dempsey" you've been so secretive. meeting up with him, not talking to me or my family nearly as much, what the hell is wrong with you, i trusted you enough to meet the family and this what i get. wow *tears stream down his face* wow
ally: darby- i have cancer.
