London. A city where everyday was different from the one before. Tourists walked everywhere with camera's and citizen hurried to their destination. On one of the streets, in the centre of the city, walked a girl towards her destination. With her headphones in her ears and her backpack tightly strapped to her back she looked like she was in a different world, not paying attention to anything happening on the streets.
As she walked further she noticed a Starbucks sign hanging above the crowd in front of her. Deciding she couldn't start her day without a good coffee, she walked inside the building. As she halted her steps in front of the counter in the middle of the shop, the boy behind it asked if he could help her. The girl removed her headphones and looked up at the boy, who didn't look any older then seventeen. "I'd like to have a large cappuccino, please" She told him. He nodded his head to her, "that would be $6,79 please". The girl fished some money out of the pocket of her leather jacket and handed it over. Why do the good things always cost so much, she thought. She sat down in a booth in the far corner of the shop, waiting for her coffee to arrive.
The corner of the shop felt like the only calm place in the city for the girl. Except for the beloved library of course. Normally people would like the city and everything that came with it, but the girl was not like others. She didn't like the busy streets. She loved the silence.
The girl walked to a bright red car parked at the side of the road after she enjoyed her much needed coffee. While she started her old Porsche 924, that had been hers since forever, her thoughts drifted off to her new home. When she was younger she never imagined moving away from the place she called home. Unfortunately life turned against her and she had to run away.
Shaking off the bad memories, she parked her car in front of a huge, glass building. If she didn't think the glass shone enough, the golden letters above the door certainly shone even more. The London Music and Movie Studio, she read the shiny words, hopefully you'll give me a job.
Once she was inside the building she walked to the desk with a secretary behind it. "Hello Miss. Can I help you?" the secretary asked her. "Yes, I was wondering if there was a position open in the movie editing department. I am new in London and I hope to find a job that connects to the jobs I had before." The girl answered.
"Can I ask what your name is? And do you have a portfolio or something you can show me to prove you would be the right person for a job here?".
"My name is Samantha Marshall and you can find my portfolio on my website MarshallDesign.com" The girl answered, glad that her surname didn't cause any trouble in a big city like London.
"Alright Samantha. I'll send your portfolio to the head of the department and we will contact you if we have a spot open for you." The secretary told her, her eyes not leaving the screen of her computer. Samantha thanked her and walked out of the building, getting on her way back home.
As she drove into the driveway of her new place, the gravel crisped under the wheels of her car. The girl parked her car in front of the small white house, shut off the engine and stepped outside.
Not too far away neighed a horse. Hearing that made the girl smile and think back to the day she bought Alfa two years ago. His full name was Al-Fahl Of Chyseus Cielo. The meaning behind this name was 'The stallion of the golden air' said google when she searched it. It wasn't her intention to buy him but when she saw him standing there, it was love at first sight. The people that wanted to sold him told her the poor fed, black horse was the devil and you weren't able to do anything save with him. And look at him now. Even the smallest kids can do anything on and around him. The other horses she took back to her new place were the small chestnut coloured pony, Kieron, who was her first own pony when she was a little kid. The girl, when she was much younger, always thought Kieron was the biggest horse ever but now she is only half as big as the girl. The other is also a little white pony, Cenicienta, who, just like Alfa, came into her life when she didn't expect her. She was just a Shetlander of 1 meter high but she was really cute and strong.
A few hours and a lunch later the girl started to brush her horse Alfa and got him ready for a ride. She got on her horse and turned him towards the forest. The last few days she only had the time to do small rides but now she was determined to explore the paths deeper into the forest. Adjusting her dark green bow on her back she motioned her horse forward. "Let's go boy!" she told him and then started moving in a steady canter.
As soon as they entered the new part of the forest, Samantha rode on with a weird feeling in her stomach. When she decided to go exploring the deeper part of the forest, the weather was nice and the sun warmed the earth. Now clouds covered the sky more and more. And besides that, the wind got really strong and cold.
Samantha, ready to head home, turned her horse around but before she could go a step back, thunder came rolling from the clouds. Samantha laid her body down on Alfa's neck and let him run. She knew it wasn't safe to be in a forest with those thunderclouds above them. Trusting Alfa with her life, she prayed he would find a place to seek cover from the storm. She couldn't see farther then one or two meters due the heavy rain that came pouring down.
Suddenly the horse under her stopped running completely making Samantha lose her balance. She rolled on the dirty ground next to her horse disorientated. "where did you do that for?" she asked her horse while checking herself on any injuries. Alfa neighed and pounded his left, front leg on the ground. Samantha, getting the message, looked up finding herself in front of a huge, creepy looking, castle. Or more like the remains of.
Not being afraid easy, Samantha stood up from the ground and looked around. The only problem that sprang into her mind was the supernatural. Being the big believer of ghosts, vampires and werewolves she was. At the moment I hope I don't meet with one of them, she thought to herself. Turning to Alfa, she took the reins from his neck and lead him towards the castle, hoping to find a place to hide from the lightning. She was glad her horse trusted her just as much as she trusted him.
With Alfa following her, Samantha walked inside through the huge doors. There was a big hall where they walked in, which used to be luxurious if she had to guess. There were two large stairs in the middle and a small one in the left corner. Almost all the windows were broken and there were small trees growing inside. As she walked in further she recognized a weird hanging door with a logo on it. I swear I've seen that before her consciousness exclaimed. She opened it and it revealled a room which she could recognize as some kind of church-like-room. On both sides of the path were wooden benches and in the front stood a big wooden table. Walking back out of the room, she decided to open the door next to this one also. This room used to be a bedroom. How did she know?... There wass an old looking bed in it. It looked like it was going to fall in little pieces every moment, but it was a bed. She closes the door and walked to the other side of the castle. This part looked like it was used as stables. Finally she found a place to stay where she was dry and Alfa could stand too.
She let Alfa into one of the old stables and got the saddle from his back. When she knew he was comfortable she went to sit next to him on the ground with her back against the wall. Waiting till the storm is over. Closing her eyes she hoped Alfa would keep her safe while she rested a bit.
