The dance is tomorrow. The dance is tomorrow. The dance is… TOMORROW! And I'm totally flippin out! This is what girls do, and I refuse to act like one! Well, I guess that's too bad because I just squealed in front of Nikki this morning. It was completely random too. We were just sitting there, and BANG! I squeal. Nikki cocked her head to the side to make sure she wasn't seeing/hearing things. "Did you just…squeal?" she asked.

"C'mon, Nikki, why would I squeal?" I asked back.

"Why wouldn't you? The dance is tomorrow." She caught me red-handed. I squealed like a girl because the dance is tomorrow. "You know, Brandon, I'm just as excited as you are, but it's a little unnecessary to squeal."

"Yeah, yeah. But I know you want to squeal as much as I do. You can't hide it from me." And with that she squealed at a frequency so high my goggles cracked. (We were in biology at the time.) "See, you can't hide it from me," I yelled. (That's how high her squeal was.)

"Sorry, but I was holding it in since… well, a week ago."

"Never again, Nikki. Don't hold it in ever again," I yelled a second time. We got detention for causing a disturbance in the class. Oh well. We were excited.

                                                                               *~*~*~*

We weren't allowed to talk or text, but we could write (in our notebooks to do homework). We passed notes back and forth while the teacher wasn't looking.

Nikki: You look bored.

Brandon: Can you really tell?

Nikki: Dude, EVERYONE looks bored.

I took a quick glance around the room to find that everyone in the room was asleep, including the teacher.

Brandon: Do you think the teacher will notice if we left?

Nikki: I don't even think he noticed who came into the room.

Nikki got up and ran out the door without being one BIT inconspicuous. I, on the other hand, was prancing about the room like a little ballerina. Nikki rolled her eyes, walked back into the room, grabbed my arm, and pulled me out. The teacher was still sound asleep. And so was everyone else. We sped walked through the hallway until someone stopped us.

"HEY!" the man yelled. Nikki and I froze in our tracks and slowly turned to face him. It was Principal Winston. "Where are you two going? You aren't sneaking from detention, are you?"

I was scared out of my mind. Nikki and I could get another detention, or worse: banned from  the dance.

"Of course not, Principal Winston," Nikki replied,"We study in the library for an hour sometimes after school. We were just heading home."

"Oh, sorry for scaring you." He said that looking DIRECTLY at me. "Have a good afternoon, guys."

Nikki, once again, tugged on my arm, causing me to stumble forward. "You nearly gave it away. Work on your acting skills!" Nikki whispered.

Oops.
