Epilogue

Jackie stared at the doors leading into the student council room. This was it. They were leaving. The anxiety from the beginning of the journey was coming back, only it was accompanied by another emotion: loneliness.
They haven't even left yet and they were lonely. So very lonely. Lucifer held them even closer last night, during and after some sinful activities, and he cried. He had begged them not to leave. Jackie soothed him, before he whispered something Jackie thought they dreamed up, until they took a shower and saw the symbol on their back.

"Make a pact with me, Jackson," Lucifer said. His fingers were dancing on their back, an unholy fear in his eyes. Well, of course it was unholy, he was a demon. "That way, you can summon me at your leisure."

Jackie smiled a little. Their leg hurt, almost reminding them that what they just did was too much for it. Jackie, however, had been told it was already beyond repair. The scarring was horrendous. Luckily, Lucifer recovered with no hitches. That was something Jackie was forever grateful for.

"I'll do it," Jackie whispered, Lucifer smiling. His smile was instantly contagious, Jackie smiling even more.

Much like with all of the other brothers, Lucifer selected where he wanted his symbol. He selected the dead center of Jackie's back. It would be above Satan's. That symbol enraged Lucifer every time he saw it.
He drew it, slowly, moving slower yet when he dragged his finger along Jackie's neck.
It felt like Jackie's entire back was on fire. Of course Lucifer would cover as much space as possible. He was Jackie's last. After him, Jackie knew better than to even humor making another pact. Jackie was his one and only human.
When Lucifer finished the symbol, he kissed the back of Jackie's neck. The softness of the gesture seemed uncharacteristic. Jackie, however, knew it was him. Always gentle, but only to Jackie.
Come the morning, Lucifer was hesitant to let go. They would see each other every hour, but Lucifer was so worried.
When Jackie asked, Lucifer mentioned that he wouldn't be able to kiss Jackie before they vanished. Wouldn't be able to apologise for everything wrong he did to Jackie. Wouldn't be able to apologise for not protecting them better. And, of course, Lucifer began to cry again.
Jackie got him to stop crying and to take a shower. It wasn't that they didn't care about his feelings. No, it was quite the contrary. Jackie cared for Lucifer deeply.
He filled the hole their fiancee ripped open after taking more than the bastard was allowed to. The bastard cheated, then tried to win Jackie back. Jackie said no. The wedding was cancelled. Jackie lost many of their childhood friends. Jillian lived in another country, but moved back to France to help Jackie out. What a good baby sister Jackie had..
Jackie's thoughts were on the promise rings that they and Lucifer bought on Lucifer's birthday. He was insistent on, unbeknownst to him, getting Jackie a gift. He wanted matching rings.
At that very moment, Lucifer swore he would never let Jackie get hurt. He would protect them, even if he died. He would do whatever he could to protect or help Jackie, even if it was something small. He wanted Jackie to stay by his side. To help him through his struggles as he helped them. All he asked was for Jackie to allow him to.

Lucifer would be Jackie's, and only Jackie's, Lightbringer.

Lucifer had ensured that a grand party was thrown for Jackie's birthday. Not only had Jackie not told him when their birthday was, no one ever remembered. It was in the middle of summer, everyone was throwing parties and doing their own thing.
The party was loud and felt like it lasted an eternity. Jackie, however, was forever grateful for the friends they had made.
They cried that night, upon remembering it was their last night in the Devildom. The same night Lucifer and Jackie made their pact. The same night Lucifer cried in fear of losing them.
Jackie finally stopped hesitating. They pushed open the doors, their body wanting to collapse. They forced themselves to continue forward, Satan catching Jackie in a firm embrace.
