Percy POV
Dressed in black, the six of us snuck through the darkness of the night. We saw the brightness of the monster camp's fire and stopped.
"How are we going to attack?" Luke whispered.
I thought for a while. "We obviously have to pick off the guards first, quietly. Then we have two options. To sneakily attack or run in blazing with fireworks and glory."
"We need to do an outright attack, surprise them. But only a handful of us. The rest can sneak behind enemy lines and pick some off while they are confused," Caleb said.
I was shocked and stared at him with a surprised look. Who knew that snobby, arrogant Caleb would be a good war strategist?
He snorted. "Just because you're stupid doesn't mean that we have to listen to you and get ourselves killed."
Annabeth pulled out her dagger and advanced towards my half-brother.
"Whoa there, princess. We need a the heads we can get," Clarisse said as she stopped Annabeth.
A wheezy laugh sounded. "I wouldn't count the chickens before they hatch."
Everyone looked around to see a monster standing a few feet away. In a blink of an eye, I threw a knife straight into the monster's chest. It returned to Tartarus in a shower of dust.
Clarisse unfroze first. "Do you think it alerted any other monsters?"
Jax shrugged. "I don't think so. I haven't heard any monsters readying their weapons to fight."
"We should get going."
"Who'll be attacking?"
"I'll sneak in. My cap's working again," Annabeth offered.
I nodded. "Jax can go with you; he's good at that kind of stuff. Anybody else want to volunteer?"
"I'll go with her," Luke said.
"Ok. Clarisse, Caleb, and I will perform the direct attack. Capiche?"
Sounds of agreement and the checking of weapons and armor filled the air.
I pulled Jax and Luke aside. "Take care of her ok? If she dies or gets hurt in any way, I will rip every single one of your limbs off and make you eat them."
They both grinned and nodded.
I clapped them on the back. "Good luck, my fellow comrades."
"Yeah yeah, just don't die," Jax said. Luke agreed and they both walked away.
"Hey, Annabeth!" I called.
She jogged over.
"Be careful, I would hate to have to save your butt again," I joked, only half serious.
She rolled her eyes. "We all know that it's me who saves you, Seaweed Brain."
"Shut it, Wise Girl."
I leaned over to give her a kiss and heard gagging noises behind us. We laughed and parted ways.
"Ok, let's get going."
We sneaked towards the guards.
I pull out a dagger from the leather pouch at my waist, took an aim, and threw it. The dagger spiraled through the air and buried itself in the eye of the monster. It turned to dust.
"At least your aim improved over the last five years," Clarisse muttered.
I grinned. Chaos made me practice all of the long range weapons until I reached perfection.
