Twilight A Different Kind of Remorse

Edward's Last Hurrah

I arrived at the Volturi castle and was greeted by the loving arms of my mate Alec. I quickly explained my predicament to him but before he could speak a girl was brought in. Her hair was blonde and short but curly. Her eyes were bright blue though, was she human? 

"Ahhh Kristina what brings you here? Finally ready to accept my offer?" Aro said greeting the girl but she shook her head at him. 

"No I didn't come here to see you...I came here to see them" she turned her gaze to Bella and I and we looked at each other confused. 

"Why would you be here to see us?" I asked her and before she could speak Alec interjected touching my arm gently as he spoke softly. 

"Kristina can not only see the dead but control them, she actually might be useful to your Edward problem." I looked back towards her and she smiled at me, how she knew I wasn't sure but she would definitely be helpful if this was true, but one question remained to me. 

"How do you have blue eyes if you're a vampire?" I asked her and she chuckled quietly. 

"I live in a suburban area so there is a lot of humans, I were contacts to hide my identity." She said and I nodded in approval. 

"Let's talk then."

"So do you hunt humans? Like most vampires?" I asked her as we sat across from each other at a local cafe. 

"No I feed on the blood of animals, there's only a few of us that do this but I am one of them." She said as she glanced away from our direction momentarily at an empty spot in the room but then returned her gaze. 

"So how did you find out about us needing help with this? We were rather discreet as far as I knew..." Bella said to her and Kristina sighed and glared at the empty spot in the room again. 

"James, he turned me many years ago. He found a way to reach out after his death and told me about you. Until one day he showed up to tell me about Edward being dead. I was really confused and went to see things for myself this time, only to find you have a very angry ex-boyfriend who wants to hurt both of you. " She said and Bella and I looked at each other, she didn't really know whos James was but I did and that's for sure. 

"Why would you help us if you know James ha-" She cut me off though rather quickly. 

"James as much as he hates you hates Edward more, besides James may be a grade A jackass but I'm not like that." She said and I smiled. 

"Well tell me what we need to do." I said and she folded her hands onto the table as she thought for a moment. 

"You need to find Seth, once you find him leave the rest to me."

"Hello?" I said answering my phone while I drove my car back towards Forks, I wasn't far but I had been waiting for this call all week. 

"We found him, we need you to get here right away." Carlise said and I stepped on it glad they finally found him. 

"Where is he?" I asked and he sighed over the phone, I knew that couldn't be good. 

"Your meadow." That was all he had to say and I hung up and hit the gas as I sped through Forks towards the one and only place I never wanted to see again. 

We arrived shortly after I hung up the phone and I rushed up to were everyone was standing. We stood on top of a hill looking down at the meadow, Seth was pacing around in wolf form as if he was waiting for someone. I knew it was me and I looked at Kristina, "You might need my help, he's waiting for me." 

She nodded and pulled me off to the side and a little bit closer to the meadow, "Alright just start talking to him, convince him to leave Seth to talk to you. I'll push my powers forward to you and allow you to see him. Leave the rest to me just keep his attention." 

I nodded and rushed towards him without a second thought, I knew what I had to do. "Seth!" I shouted and he turned a vicious growl my way, but stopped when he saw it was me. "Or should I say Edward." I said and he stepped towards me but I stepped back. "Come out and face me yourself Edward, that's what you want isn't it?" 

The sandy wolf in front of me froze in place for a moment, cocked his head then fell to the ground. Now the man I once loved stood in front of me. "Esto, listen I don't want to hurt you. I love you more then anything and I realize that now, please let's fix this."

"Edward even if I wanted to, you are dead there isn't any fixing this." I said but he quickly closed the space between us and held my face in his hands.

"Yes there is! I found a way it's why I came here to wait for you. If I kiss my true love and mate, the power will return me." He said but I knew Eddward and I weren't destined from the moment he said goodbye to me. He was a fraud and delusional. 

"Edward I don't think we are-" He cut me off thought by pressing his lips to mine, one last kiss between us was what I felt was needed in order for me to truly let him go. 

But instead of returning like he wanted he began to fade away and I broke away from the kiss looking into his honey eyes one more time and put my hand to his face, "Goodbye Edward." With that he faded away never to return again, and for the first time in a long time, I cried.
