"Number Seven!" Reginald was standing in the doorway of Vanya's bedroom, "You will join your siblings for training today. Now come along." Vanya didn't dare question the man's orders. She simply followed him out to the courtyard in a confused manner.
It was cold outside. Freshly fallen leaves of every shade of orange and yellow covered the ground. Vanya's shoes rustled the leaves with every step. She arrived at where the children were about to begin their training.
Five looked at her questioningly and Vanya silently shrugged her shoulders.
"Today, children, will not be your average training. Despite your powers and fighting skills, you will also need to be light on your feet and elegant. Thus, we will be learning... dancing." Reginald said calmly. What? The children couldn't believe it. Why dancing? Klaus began twirling around and clapping his hands. Ben stared at him, exasperated.
"Lighten up, Benerito!" Klaus laughed, "You and I could be partners!" He took out his flask and took a big gulp. Ever since he was 10, he started drinking and getting high to avoid the spirits that haunted him.
"That's quite enough, Number Four!" Reginald snapped, "Now, choose your partners, everyone." Klaus grabbed Ben, Diego ran up to Grace, and Allison and Luther took hold of each other. Vanya looked sideways at Five, but Five was already at her side, holding her hand. Vanya blushed and her heart thumped in her chest. Even though she had kissed Five already, this was different. This was special.
Soft, classical music starting playing from a radio. A beat played out in Vanya's head, one, two three, one, two, three. It was a waltz. Five held Vanya's waist tightly and Vanya held the back of his neck. Five stepped back and Vanya stepped forward. It was as simple as that. Five's face flushed as he tried not to step oh Vanya's feet.
"It's ok if you mess up," Vanya giggled at Five's face relaxing as she said that. Five held Vanya's waist tighter.
"I love you, Vanya Hargreeves," Five whispered into her ear. Vanya smiled. She was in confinement and resentment all her life. She forgot how much she needed someone to say that. Five was the one for her, and the only person who would make her truly happy.
They swayed and stepped to the beat. A violin was hidden in the music, nearly silenced by the piano, yet carrying the entire song.
"I'd like to hear your violin sometime," Five remarked. Vanya pondered on this for a moment.
"Alright, you can hear it today after dancing," Vanya's eyes twinkled at the thought of Five listening to her violin-playing. Then again, she was scared to mess up. Her worries melted away when Five held her closer. She leaned into him and continued to take defining steps.
Soon, the music came to a close, and Five and Vanya pulled away from each other and bowed. Or at least, that's what Reginald told them to do.
"Training dismissed for today," Reginald said promptly. Everyone proceeded to go back into the mansion. Five followed Vanya up to her room, isolated from everyone else's and on the far east corner of the house. She opened the worn, wood door to her little world.
