The Kingdom's New Prodigy

The next few weeks passed by in a flash.

I was finally given proper tutors for feminine values, royal etiquette, and basic education. I recall this happening much later in my past life. I suppose my little showcase during the ceremony prompted my father to start taking me seriously.

Frankly, with my knowledge as an adult still intact, I found these lessons boring and repetitive. The tutors, although having respectful facades, were obviously looking down on me.

I once heard two of them muttering from outside our lesson room.

"Why must the King order us, the best tutors of the kingdom, to teach a mere five year old?"

"Ah, he must be prideful, thinking his child would be as excellent as he once was."

"Hmph! I doubt any child in the continent, much less a girl, would ever surpass the brilliance of the Legendary Prodigy of Saule, now our very own King Thrace!"

However, their ill behavior didn't last too long. Suffice to say, I perfectly astounded them.

In their standpoints, I was simply the angel of learning. No matter what topic they teach, I absorb with ease. No matter how hard a challenge, I would always finish with record time.

Of course, they would never know that I had already learned these things years ago. In fact, as a royal, I had mastered each and every one of these topics. And even if I didn't have my past memories in my thinking arsenal, I still had my quick mind. In fact, if my father had given me these tutors at my age in my past life, I would have learned easily as well. Not as fast as I am learning now, but definitely still with ease.

Still, there were some minor bumps on the journey, however.

"Hmmm... Lady Elle. You placed here that your answer is... an 'Oh'?" my tutor in numerical abilities asked, staring at my paper with a frown.

I tilted my head, thinking I may have answered an item wrong. "May I see my paper, Miss Tolin?"

"Of course," she said with a smile, handing over the parchment.

I glanced over the specific item she talked about. A frown formed on my face. "... I believe my answer is quite right, Miss Tolin. The answer is zero."

Her brows went up. "But whatever do you mean by your answer? I have never heard the term, "zero", in my constant travels."

"Oh!" I let out, finally understanding the reason for my tutor's confusion. The concept of "zero" still wasn't concrete at this time. In fact, I had only truly known of it when I was late into my teenage years...

I laughed a little, slightly slapping my cheek with my gloved hand. "I'm only joking, Miss Tolin! I seemed to have answered it incorrectly."

I then promptly deemed the problem "unanswerable", which made my tutor smile with satisfaction.

Needless to say, my infantile days were calm and quite a breeze. Although other people would find my current workload too much for such a young child, I continued to ask for more hours of lessons. In my philosophy, the sooner I'm done with these boring lessons, the more time I'll be able to plan for my future in the long run.

So, it came as a shock to find my repetitive days come to an abrupt end.

"A trip?" I repeated my nanny's words.

Miss Hestia nodded. "Yes, my lovely protege. The royal family will have a long trip to visit our comrade nation, the Mond Empire."

I paused at the name. "... The Mond Empire."

My nanny's eyes lit up, seeing the recognition in my words. "The one and only! The strongest nation of the continent, home to the most powerful mages and not to mention, the best school for mages, the Lunar Academy for Special Mages!"

I only stared at a corner of the room, my mind going blank. This never happened in my past life! In fact, Princess Eleftheria seldom ever left the Royal City of Saule... I sighed.

I suppose the recent and sudden improvement of my academic and mental prowess has changed many things. I suppose meeting the royal family of the greatest empire wouldn't be too bad.

I will finally see the crown prince that will be betrothed to me. The same prince which made me lose my life and more...

"When will we leave?" I asked, sighing in quiet resignation.

Miss Hestia smiled brightly. "Tomorrow!"

"... TOMORROW?" I screamed shrilly. That burst of emotion earned me a not too hard slap on my head.

"Mind your manners, my lady!" Miss Hestia scolded me. "I know you are excited, but you need to express the proper decorum. More so since you will have to show these to another royal family."

I only nodded towards my nanny. With no other words, she led me to the bathroom to prepare me for the night. As she prepared the bath, I suddenly thought of something.

Huh... Perhaps, I could act so crudely, so horrendously, that the prince won't ever want me to be his bride. I'll have him begging his parents to abolish our engagement!

I was grinning and laughing so maliciously that my nanny had to dunk my face into the warm, scented water.
