Chapter Twenty FINALE

"Are you sure I look okay?" I ask nervously. I was wearing something that I would call highly uncomfortable. It wasn't my choice but Reds. Serena and I were going to this party that also took place when Serena was a performer. The only difference is that this time I'm going with Serena and not Miette. "You look great, don't worry. Just the hair looks a bit-" Red burst in laughter. Giving him an annoying look do my hair back into its messy self. "Ash what's taking you so long even Serena is ready" Dad arrives into my room. "She's ready!" I exclaim while getting my belt and pokemon. "Why are you taking that?" Red asks confused; "Just in case of a battle!" I shout running, out the room.

Downstairs Pikachu waits on the and of the stairs but no sign of Serena. "Where's Serena?" I question him looking around. "Pika pi~" He answers handing, me a note.

I remembered I had to be there early. Sorry! Meet you there.

"Well then let's go buddy" I smile.

Serena's POV

"Thank you so much so the help Serena," says Shauna. "The stage had some last adjustments to do and, I couldn't do it alone." "No problem anytime," I say walking, away. Coming outside there is still no sign of Ash. And by the time the ball dance starts. There's no Ash. "He didn't forget did he?" I glance towards the floor. "May I have this dance, M'lady?" says someone. I look up hoping it's Ash but, instead, it's Steven. "Umm I don't mean to be rude or anything but, I'm waiting for someone." I apologise. "Serena, I'm so-" Ash stops the moment he looks at me. Oh no, I hope he doesn't think I'm going to dance with Steven. "Serena..." he says blinking. "You...you look beautiful!"

Feeling my whole body burn up. And face turning red, like a tomato berry. I nearly lose balance. "T...thank you" I shutter. "I'm glad you could make it nice you also look, Ash." "I mean glad you could make it Ash you also look...nice." Great going Serena you just embarrassed yourself in front of him. "Thanks, Red picked this outfit for me" He smiles. "Ash it's great to see you and congratulations on winning the Kalos league." Steven shakes hand with Ash. "But if you'll excuse I must get going. The ball dance is about to end." Shocked I, watch as Steven goes backstage. "Serena, I'm sorry..." Ash apologises. "I know how much you wanted to dance." Knowing that he was feeling very guilty, I tell him that it's okay. "I have to go now. I have a performance to do so see you later." I start to walk away. "Wait!" He calls right before I also go backstage. "Meet me near the river right after the performance is done. I've got a surprise for you." I smile and nod as he waves goodbye.

Ash's POV

"Come on out everyone!" I shout once I'm near the river. "Right, first of all, I know after what has been going on. I made you all. Especially Pikachu worried. And for that, I apologise." I bow in front of my Pokémon. Each one of my pokemon stood around me before hugging me. "Thank you for forgiving me" I smile. "Right Serena missed the dance because me so I thought why don't I with the help from you guys make it memorable for her. And maybe confess." I rub my neck. Everyone smirks at me and, I blush slightly. And we get to work.

An hour later

Right now to find Ash. He had told me to come near the river. I walk along the pathway and onto a bridge. But nothing is there. "Now Pikachu go!" I hear Ash shout. All of a sudden, the whole place is filled, with beautiful lights and sparkle. A lot like when I'm up on stage and, all these wonderful light brighten up the scene.

"Ash I didn't know you could sing so beautifully" I smile eyes wide enough to see the sparkles in them. "May I have this dance, Serena Yvonne?" Ash bows while taking one hand out. I gladly accept and, we both dance gracefully together as the moon shines above us.

Near the end, we are walking along the river when suddenly ASh stops and goes on his knees.

Ash's POV

I sigh before I can say anything. It's now or never! "Serena, we have known each other for quite a while now. And I want to spend the rest of my life with and only you. Would you be my girlfriend? Serena" I say taking out a beautiful crimson rose. Serena doesn't respond. Instead, she takes me by surprise when she locks her soft lips against mine. We part a few seconds later and smile. "Yes, Ash Ketchum I will be your girlfriend" She smiles.

And with that, we continue to walk under the night sky while holding hands and knowing the future awaits us.
