Chapter 25

Before anyone could reply to Karla, they were all startled by the loud ringing. Even Toast looked up in shock from his position next to Karla on the couch.

Everyone naturally looked at Karla's phone, a sinking feeling in their stomach when they saw the name 'Taylor💓✨' as the caller ID.

"Why the fuck is she calling you?"

Karla shrugged, "I don't know."

Kim frowned and took the phone from her hand, "Seriously you should block her number."

"Yeah, you should." Kendall said, leaning over and reaching for the phone, "Here, I'll do it."

Karla rolled her eyes, "Think I'm capable of that myself, Ken."

Kendall sighed and bit her lip, she couldn't help but have her mind run wild as to why Taylor was still contacting Karla.

The sister's all realised they should probably call it a night now and went their separate ways back to their bedrooms. Karla went into her bathroom and ran a bath, letting out a large sigh and bringing up the text thread with Taylor.

Karla [12:34 am]: look, i know we've been talking again recently but i need to focus on myself and i can't fully commit to that when you were part of my past that lead me to spiral. i'm sorry, but i can't talk to you anymore

Putting her phone down on the counter, she took of her clothes and lowered herself into the water. Today had felt overwhelming - she had enjoyed it and felt incredibly grateful, don't get her wrong - but birthday's had always led to her feeling down. She was just hoping tomorrow wouldn't be full of questions from her family in regards to Taylor.

Karla woke up fairly early in the morning and raced downstairs to Toast, eager to see him this morning. He was incredibly excited and Karla couldn't stop grinning as he squirmed around. She fed him and then grabbed her car keys and put him on the passenger seat, wanting to go for a quick walk on the beach before everyone else woke.

She parked up by the seafront and grabbed Toast and his leash, running excitedly onto the sand. Karla couldn't help but look down at the puppy and let out joyous giggles as the pair ran towards the ocean - it was pretty empty around with mostly runners along the path and a few solo walkers slowing making their way across the sand. Picking the small puppy up into her arms, Karla kicked her shoes off a few feet before the water and stepped into the water, letting out a content sigh as she swayed softly, listening to the sound of waves crashing against her legs.

The pair were in nice peaceful moment before Karla heard her name being called in the distance. Karla turned her head in the direction of the sound seeing the girl with her signature green roots and dark hair.

"Oi, Karla!" Billie called out, making her way over to her.

Karla grinned and made her way back out of the sea and met Billie half way, putting down the squirming puppy.

"Billie!" Karla exclaimed, "What are you doing up so early? It's only 7 AM!"

The singer crouched down to greet the puppy and let out multiple giggles and coo's, "I could ask you the same thing!" She said, coming back up and pulling Karla into a quick hug, "I haven't slept yet, but a walk along the beach and watching the sunrise seemed like a nice thing to do. Didn't realise there would be such pretty girls here though!"

"Oh Billie stop, you're making me blush." Karla said sarcastically, "You're crazy. I'm surprised you haven't been snatched away."

"Me?" Billie said incredulously, "You come from the most famous family out there, think you have just as much of a chance of getting snatched as I do."
