McANickNuget POV

Killing off the rest of the zombies was easy, there was only 30 at most. After we finished me and Fallen stood on the roof of the building as usual, but there was complete silence between us before Fallen spoke.

"I can't believe they got away..." She growled, "That son of a b-"

"Language! How many times do I have to tell you?!" Fallen glared at me but I didn't even flinch. Fallen never scarred me, if we did ever fight I doubt there'd be a winner. We're evenly matched I'd say.

"Come on, we have to go after them."

"Wait... they could be miles away from here by now and we don't even know which direction they went. It could just be a long hunt with no results. I just say we let them be..." I couldn't even believe the words that were coming out of my own mouth.

Fallen gave me a confused glance. "You've never been reluctant to kill anyone..." She stated.

"Spazz was our friend and even though he left us in our time of need, I could never bring myself to kill him."

"Fine, I'll track him down myself then." Fallen then jumped from the roof onto a smaller building and continued on from there, leaving me behind.

"Pft, you couldn't find a skunk if it were 10 feet in front of you..." I muttered out loud. I'll find Spazz long before she does. And I'll warn him and his little friend.

FoolishCobra

Cobra blinked her eyes open as the sunlight barely made its way through the thick blanket of leaves that lay overhead. As she became more aware of her surroundings she felt pain, mostly in her legs. Then memories of yesterday flooded her mind, we were so close to dying... After her eyes had fully opened she saw Spooz looking through what little supplies they had.

He looked up when he noticed Cobra, "Oh, you've finally decided to wake up. It's almost noon ya know."

"Why didn't you wake me!?" Cobra sat up abruptly, only causing the pain in her legs to intensify.

"I figured I'd let you sleep, you had a pretty rough day yesterday..." Spooz trailed off at the end but then shook his head to clear it, "Quick question, which direction did you run from the city." Cobra tried to recall where she went.

"Well, the sun had set to the left of me when we left the town, if that helps."

"So north, good. So I was thinking and from here I'm sure we could make it back to my old house. It's nothing that great but behind it there's a stream of fresh water, hopefully it's still there." Spooz explained as Munchkin walked up and rubbed herself against Spooz's hand.

"Sounds good. How long do you think it would take?"

"Well, I lived in Delaware before I ran here and if I remember correctly then about one or two days by foot. That includes breaks and getting food." Spooz put the small amount of stuff in his backpack. Huh, I used to live in Delaware before the apocalypse... Cobra thought as she scooped up Munchkin and placed her in her own backpack.

"I don't know which way to go so I guess I'm following you." Walking around the wooded area a bit they found a path leading in the direction they needed to go. It was peaceful, there were no zombies or any other sort of threat. Nuget and Fallen most likely had no idea where they were and the further they traveled the harder it would be for them to get tracked down. The thought of the two psychopaths sent a shiver down Cobra's spine. My legs still hurt from that fall and from carrying Spooz all that way... he's a lot heavier then he looks. I guess that didn't matter at that moment, what mattered was getting as far away from there as possible. My adrenaline must've really been going because I don't remember feeling a thing.

"Are you okay? You're limping..." Spooz's voice shook Cobra from her thoughts. She hadn't noticed she had been limping until now.

"Y-Yeah I'm fine, just a little sore but I'll be okay."

"You want me to carry you?" Cobra knew he was joking so she just laughed it off.

"You couldn't carry me even if ya wanted to! You're nothing but skin and bones!"

"Oh please, you just don't wanna feel babied, shorty." The last part of Spooz's sentence was a whisper but it was loud enough for Cobra to hear.

"Hey! I'm not short! You're just tall!" She retorted, elbowing Spooz in the side.

"Perhaps but you'll always be short to me..." Spooz put his hand up to his forehead and moved it outward, it passed right over Cobra's head. "Shorty..." He commented with a smirk.

Cobra rolled her eyes, "You can be so annoying sometimes..." Spooz simply shrugged. Looking down the rest of the path it seemed to end only 20 yards away. Once they reached the end of the dense forest there was a highway and not far away there was a sign that read "Welcome to Delaware" they looked at each other in excitement. We'll be there probably by tomorrow! Then we can relax without a worry in the world. Cobra thought just as they passed the sign. The highway next to them was completely empty, cracked in some parts. It was an unusual sight. Cobra was used to highways being full of cars and very loud but now it was silent. I guess I should start getting used to the quiet...
