 Cobra's POV

We had barely reached Kent county when the sun was already on the brink of setting. Me and Spooz had found a completely abandoned warehouse that was actually near a neighborhood. The warehouse was pretty much empty and it showed no signs of life whatsoever.

"Tomorrow we'll surely be able to make it to my house from here." Spooz said as I sat down next to him with Munchkin in my arms.

"Good." There was a long pause before I decided to speak again, "Do you think any of the people in that neighborhood are... still alive?"

Spooz looked at me and then looked down at the floor, "I... honestly don't know... if they are then they must be in horrible condition, but we don't have time to help them so don't ask. Nuget used to live there if I'm remembering correctly..."

"So what happened between you, Nuget and Fallen that made them hate you so much? I mean, I get that you left them but that's no reason to kill someone right?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.

Spooz let out a long sigh,"Truth is... I left them when they needed me most..."

Backstory OwO

Fallen and Spazz were walking up the hallways of their middle school, talking to each other.

"Honestly I don't care if I fail the test, it's just chinese class it's not gonna count as an actual grade." Spazz was visibly calm.

"Well you do you but I need to-" Fallen was cut off when her phone in her pocket began to buzz. She pulled it out secretively, careful not to attract the attention of any teachers. She looked down at it confused, "Nuget? What is she calling me for in the middle of the school day?" Regardless she answered. "Hello?"

"Hey, Fallen, is Spooz with you?"

"Yeah he's right next to me, what's up?"

"Did you hear about that chemical thing and how people are turning into zombies because of it?" Nuget asked.

"I mean, I've heard of it but I don't think it's affecting this area." Fallen only rolled her eyes in annoyance. Nuget had called her just to say that?

"Well, there was a kid in my school that got infected and everyone was sent home so it wouldn't spread. That's why I called you." Spazz and Fallen exchanged a slightly nervous glance. That had both heard that this... chemical, was turning people into zombie like creatures all over the country. California, Oregon, Washington state, Arizona, Idaho, Montana and a few other states had already been classified as 'Apocalyptic Areas.' Meaning that the state had already been overrun by zombies and other monsters and that there were little to no people left. There were other states where there were only a handful of people infected but many had already suspected that those numbers would increase because so far there was no cure. Scientists declared that the infection didn't affect most animals but animals could carry the disease and pass it onto humans.

"You guys still there?" Nuget asked, interrupting their thoughts.

"Y-Yeah," Spooz stuttered, "That's insane, I hope our school closes too so we don't get infected."

"I hope it closes just because." Fallen remarked with a smirk.

Spooz gave her a stern look, "Fallen this is serious, people in Delaware are in danger now! That includes our families and even us!"

"Calm down, it's only one person so far, it won't spread to others if they get them under control."

Two weeks later cuz I'm lazy

"Hurry! Duck behind here!' Nuget led Spooz and Fallen under a large piece of debris, hoping that no zombies would find them under there. "This is bad... we're completely surrounded!"

"I say we fight our way out!" Fallen drew her sword.

Spooz shook his head, "We'll be overrun, there must be at least 50 zombies out there. We should find a place to hide until morning."

"That'll take too long, the more we wait the more likely they'll find us!" Fallen snarled.

"I'd rather that then running out there head first!" Nuget retorted.

"So what are we supposed to do?! Hide away like cowards!?"

"This isn't about bravery it's about survival!"

"We're weak, thirsty, and starving, if we don't fight now we won't make it for much longer!"

"Would you both just shut up!" Spazz's voice boomed over the arguing friends who had turned to look at him. The noise was enough to attract a handful of zombies which had already spotted the three. Drawing their weapons, the group leaped into battle. With one quick slash of her sword, Fallen cut a zombie's head clean off. Nuget struck one in the heart with one of her arrows while Spazz was fighting off two zombies at once. All the commotion only brought more zombies to the scene, far too many for them to fight.

"We have to get away from here! They'll eat us alive!" Nuget yelled as she held up a shield to keep the zombies from getting her.

"We can't!" Fallen added as now the two were back to back trying to hold off zombies that were coming from all sides. Spooz was standing outside of the massive mob as the zombies went for the easier targets. "Spazz! You have to fight them from behind, we can't hold them like this for much longer!" Fallen yelled. Spazz only stared, knowing that it would be impossible for him to fight off even half of those zombies, they'd all die on spot.

"SPAZZ!" Nuget called, "Get your head out of the clouds and help!"

"I'm sorry... one of us has to survive..." Spazz clutched his sword in his hands and ran in the opposite direction, leaving the two behind.

End of backstory

Spooz sighed in disappointment... allowing the memories to take over him.

"I was so selfish, I knew that if I had tried to help I would've been killed as well so I saved myself but... I just feel awful now..." His head hung low and his eyes stared at the ground.

"So... you thought they had died?" Cobra asked, her tone was no louder than a whisper.

"I was sure of it. They were skilled fighters but I didn't even think they would've survived that. It's still a mystery to me how they made it out alive..." Spooz then sighed again, "Please don't think badly of me now... I know what I did was wrong and I didn't mean for it to go this far..."

'I don't think badly of you at all, the apocalypse was new to you and it was a stressful situation, you were only thinking of your own safety." Cobra said.

Spooz shrugged, "Maybe..." Looking up briefly he noticed that the sun had already set. "We should go to sleep, we'll make it to my house by tomorrow." Spooz leaned his head against the wall to get comfortable.

"Okay, well, good night."

"Night."
