There's this girl I know
And her life is perfect,
Or so she's told
But this girl
Discovered something
About herself
This summer
And now she thinks
It'll break the hearts
Of everyone around her,
But that's not the point
She's told nobody,
All but one
Who keeps her secrets
Even if she can't recover
From the way her family
Tells her what
She can't be
How they treat her
Like they've never noticed
How she's been,
5 years
Since the last time
They noticed
That maybe
Their kid
Was too broken
She's grateful for this girl
Even if she can never repay her
For everything she's done
But to be there for her
Even if it's not enough
Too busy with her own problems
This girl failed to see
That her friend was hurting
In need of love
Of someone to talk to
And care
This girl knows you've said
"It's not you, it's me"
But she can't help feeling like she could've done
Something
To help
With the pain
To always be there
But she let her life
Get in the way
And was too blind to
Understand
That she should've been there
Like her friend
Always was
For her
