Tackling Suicidal Thoughts

You don't want to kill yourself.

Trust me, you don't. When you see a spider or another bug and you smash it, why do you do it? Because you're scared of it, right?

What if you're just scared of what's inside of you? Consider that. You want the worst parts of yourself to end. You want your situation to end. That habitual sin of yours. You want the depression and the anxiety to be calm. To end.

You want it to end. You want those things to end. Surely you don't want to end yourself.

Happiness can be found, but trying to fill in a missing piece that's shaped for God with worldly objects won't bring you any closer to finding it. In other words, there is a hole in all of our hearts, and it's shaped for God.

You can't fill in that hole with distractions, alcohol, drugs, porn, or anything else that brings you temporary happiness. It can only be filled with God and the salvation He sent to us through Jesus Christ.

What if I told you that you could end all that's wrong in your life without killing yourself? That you can be stronger than all that's thrown at you? Would you believe me?

You don't have to be strong enough. God himself is strong enough for you.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) says, "So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Thoughts creep in from time to time, begging you to just end it all. It happens to me sometimes, too. I know that I'm not strong enough to fight through this, but I rest assured every night knowing that my God is stronger than I could ever imagine.

Christ conquered death, and through him, you can too.

Please, seek help. There's nothing wrong with not being strong enough to fight this on your own. You're a beautiful soul, and if you make it through this, you can be happy! You can even share your testimony and save someone else.

I received a question regarding whether or not someone would be sent to hell if they commit suicide, knowing that it is a sin. The truth is, I don't know. Forgiveness of sins is a gift given to us by our Heavenly Father through the blood of salvation that what shed for us on Calvary's cross.

So, God keeps us saved. He knows that we are only human, and that we are sinners by nature.

The thing is, we are told to live a life of repentance, which comes from the confession and turning away from sin. You can't repent if you don't have the means to do so.

I think the best thing to do would be to turn away from those thoughts in the best, most rational way you can handle. Remember, you can start over, all hope is not lost, and you can have a new joy in Christ! I know these thoughts are hard to handle; I've dealt with them too. Just know that by God, you are strong!

Anyway, this is a difficult question to answer. I don't think anyone has a straightforward, factually-supported answer, because the answer could go both ways. We probably won't know the true answer until we can ask God personally in Heaven!

I do know that God is very understanding, forgiving, and loving. He knows our thoughts, our hurts, etc. and He knows what we go through. I don't think it is His will that you should take your own life, though!

Recount Job's story. He lost everything. Yet, even in his depression, he kept his hopes in God (even when his wife had pretty much told him to "just curse God and get it over with"). Then, when it was his time to die, he did so believing in God and in good faith.

Good faith and good hope doesn't mean that you need to be joyful all of the time, just that you trust in God for better times and a more divine plan, especially one that will be fulfilled as long as you stay alive!
