Psalm 124

Psalm 124
ESV
Our Help Is in the Name of the Lord
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side-let Israel now say-
2 if it had not been the Lord who was on our side
when people rose up against us,
3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,
when their anger was kindled against us;
4 then the flood would have swept us away,
the torrent would have gone over us;
5 then over us would have gone
the raging waters.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us
as prey to their teeth!
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the snare of the fowlers;
the snare is broken,
and we have escaped!

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.

While reading this psalm I love how David reminded the Israelites to look back and remember what God has done for them in the past.

I want us today to just reflect on everything God has delivered us from, past struggles, sins, pain, abuse whatever you know God has been in your life reflect on it. When we leave a season and move on to another we can easily forget how painful the previous season was and how God delivered us.

I think back to moments when I would be crying day in and day out, where I felt like I couldn't take it anymore it was in the season God was with me and delivered me from attacks I was getting. We should never forget the goodness of the Lord in our lives but meditate on it. We should meditate on His love, His care, and who He has revealed to be.

We should continuously just like in verse 6 say "Blessed be the Lord"

Verse 7 beautifully describes their escape like a bird from the snare of the fowler. Fowler traps small birds just like the enemy seeks to trap us but God will set us free from these fowlers and traps of the enemy. Whatever trap the enemy has set for us and that we might fall in, we have confidence and faith in Jesus Christ that all chains are broken and who He has set free is free indeed. Like a bird, we can soar in freedom.

And like verse 1 says "If it has not been for the Lord who was on our side"

What was a moment in your life where you can reflect and say "If it wasn't for the Lord who was on my side..."

Comment and continue that sentence and PRAISE Him for His goodness. Overthinking and reflecting on the pain of today cannot compare to the goodness He shows every day
