Oh, Man; Chapter 6

Today in history we were learning about September 11, 2001. The day that New York and the rest of the United States was changed forever. Farkle was very interested in this topic (but when is he not?) and my old school already taught me all of this. Maya raised her hand.

"I have a question." She stated.

"Yes?" Mr. Matthew nodded.

"How could someone be so sick to nose dive planes into 2 highly populated buildings in New York and other buildings in other states." She asked in a way that didn't sound like a question.

"I can't answer that," Mr. Matthew replied after thinking, "but I can tell you this, these people got what they deserved. Most were jailed, those who didn't cooperate were killed. Those who do just shall get just things in return, while those who don't do just shall not get just things in return."

Maya smiled.

"Thank you." She looked down. This was the most I'd ever taken from Mr. Matthew's class. By the look on Riley's face, I could tell she thought the same thing. The bell rang.

"Class dismissed." Mr. Matthew's said smiling gently.

Riley came up to me after class.

"Hey Lucas!"

"Hey! What's up?"

"I have a question for you."

"Go ahead." I got excited. She was going to ask me to the dance!

"I was wondering if you liked Maya." She smirked, which is something I've never seen her do before.

"Kind of. But I also kind of like you." I smiled at her.

"That's what she thought. I thought you liked her, she thought you liked me. She told me if both was the answer to tell you that liking 2 girls is never the answer. I'm sorry Lucas, I really like you, but Maya is right. I don't want you to dance with me and imagine it's Maya or vice versa." Riley leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. She pulled away and smiled.

"Bye Lucas."

Oh, man.

Oh man, oh man, oh man.

Now my boring life gets complicated.

I looked over to see beautiful Maya clapping for Riley's accomplishment of standing up to me.

I guess she's right.

I have to choose.
