Dewey groaned in frustration as he swiped the feathers on top of his head just as Huey, Webby, and Louie climbed out from under the docks, soaked, and angry.
Great.
Just his luck.
Again.
"You, You -." Huey fumed once Dewey got slowly off the docks. He walked towards Webby and stood beside her, sure that she would be as hard on him as his brothers was apparently going to be.
"Huey, calm down Dewey and I are -." Webby tried but before she could finish Louie had rushed at Dewey, fists flying, and then wrestled him to the ground.
"Louie!" Webby scolded.
"Taking sides, already, Webby?" Huey shot back. Webby glared over at him and they stare at each other for a long time before Huey finally sighed deeply and pulled Louie off Dewey without much effort.
"Let. Me. Go. Huey!" Louie snarled still glaring at Dewey. "I knew it! I knew we couldn't trust him again, but you -." His head snapped around to Huey. "You asked me to give him a chance, and because he's our brother I did. Now, it's time to make good on our deal!" He snarled.
"D,Deal?" Webby asked.
Dewey glanced over at her, clearly Huey and Louie had made some sort of deal behind her back. He slowly lifted his hand and took hers in his, squeezing it slightly. Webby continued to stare at Louie and Huey, rage in her eyes.
"The deal was that I give Dewey a chance, or, he'd spend life in prison. I was the one who wanted to see you rot in jail, Dewey." Louie snarled.
Dewey blinked, then rolled his eyes as if this didn't bother him making Louie's face turn a bright shade of red. In truth though, it did bother him, a lot.
Huey he could see wanting him in jail being a cop and all, but Louie wanting him in jail?
" Huey begged me to give Dewey a chance to see if he even wanted to come back home, be a family again. Clearly, I was right and he never intended to come back on his own." Louie explained. His head turned slowly to face Dewey.
"Who is he?" He demanded to know.
Dewey swallowed.
He was afraid of this and wondered if this was Agent Toxic's plan the entire time they've talked. Make his brothers question his loyalty, he still had that for his family of course, but now, he could slowly seeing them loosing what little faith his family had in him being slowly slipped away again.
"I, I can't tell you." Dewey whispered, looking away from him.
Dewey's hand loosened on Webby's who quickly squeezed it back tightly, telling him that she was on his side at least.
"Then we are done." Louie snapped.
He turned and walked away, pulling the hood up to his hoodie. Huey looked at Dewey one last time with a sad, almost pleading look, before Dewey shooked back even more sadly at him, trying with his eyes to tell Huey that he was trying to protect them. Not keep them in the dark.
Huey saw that knew what he was asking and like always gave in, he nodded and sighed deeply before he walked slowly away following Louie back towards Duckburg and the manor. Leaving Dewey alone with Webby on the pier.
Dewey blinked hard to keep the tears from falling from his eyes. It was just like that night, only, much, much worse. Webby could see that Dewey getting dangerously emotional and she quickly wrapped her arm around him and up and down his arms, trying to sooth him.
