DOMINIQUE NEVER HAD THAT TALK WITH REMUS AND SIRIUS. It had only been just over a week ago, but Dominique had been avoiding them. It hadn't been intentional. It had been out of fear. Fear that once her parents found out she was hanging around "undesirable" company, they would deal with her in a way that she didn't even want to think about. The mere thought of it made her shudder. And she knew Mulciber would blabber if she embarrassed or spoke up against him again, as their parents were close friends from their school days. So, she distanced herself from the Gryffindor group, and kept herself safely around Kathryn.

It was the next Saturday that Professor Slughorn's party took place, and much to her relief, her brother Julius had been invited - as well as Kathryn, Severus and Regulus. Regulus had been the only one out of the Slytherin group to speak to her since her confrontation with Mulciber. Mulciber had also been given a week of detention from Professor McGonagall. She didn't care much.

"Aren't you going to start getting ready?" Kathryn asked, kicking Dominique's foot gently as the Slytherin girl laid on her bed. Dominique had ventured to the Ravenclaw tower a few hours before the party was to take place in order to get ready with Kathryn instead of on her own. So far, she hadn't done anything but lay on Kathryn's bed, sifting through her music CDs and records. Her family were pure-blood but weren't as obsessive over blood-purity as other pure-blood families, and so Kathryn had a lot of muggle things in her possession. "Or are you going to lay there all evening?"

"That sounds like a good plan," Dominique replied, her eyes scanning over the CD in her hand. It was from Fleetwood Mac. She listened to them a lot, but just never really told anyone other than Kathryn. She also listened to The Beatles, The Carpenters, Otis Redding, David Bowie, The Doors and a few others - but she didn't exactly have easy access to muggle music. "I don't have anything to wear."

"Oh, yes you do. You have enough clothes to provide for the whole school," Kathryn said, pointing over to the clothes Dominique had brought over from her dormitory. "Do you want me to pick for you?"

   "Yes, you have good taste."

"No, you're just being lazy," Kathryn said with a chuckle, narrowly dodging the pillow thrown at her head. "Just so we're clear, you said there is to be no mention of a certain two Gryffindor boys?"

"Precisely," Dominique confirmed. She didn't want to talk about Sirius or Remus at least for that night, because all she wanted to do was have a good night and not stress herself out. She felt that she hadn't been spending as much time with Kathryn as she wanted to and had begun to miss the girl. "Did you find a dress?"

"Here it is," Kathryn said, throwing a dress on Dominique's body. "Come on, get dressed."

Dominique sighed dramatically, sitting up and picking up the dress. It was a long black sleeveless dress, off the shoulders with a v-neckline. Smiling approvingly, she put the dress on and stood in front of the mirror, putting on the pearl necklace that she always wore, along with lace black gloves and black heels. She felt like she had been pulled out of an Addams Family comic, and she loved it.

"Wonderful," Dominique said, turning to Kathryn. She was wearing a long dark green dress, with lace sleeves and matching shoes. Green was Kathryn's favourite colour. "Should we get going? I'm sure the party has already started."

"I suppose, yeah," Kathryn answered, handing Dominique a flask.

   "It isn't firewhisky, is it?"
