Chapter Eight

Soon it was October and Eva absolutely loved it here. She had grown incredibly close to Lily and Severus, along with James and Remus. Siri was still constantly flirting with her and asking her out, and she was constantly turning him down. Lily and James were now dating because, after their date that was a bit of a bet, Lily had found out that she actually did like him, and Eva couldn't be happier. She was getting to live through her parents falling in love, and it was adorable.

She and Siri had basically become the new Lily and James, as Siri now didn't even look at girls other than her, but she still wasn't sure about him. She needed to know if he actually liked her, or if he was just trying to get her to go out with him because she was a challenge. So, she hadn't said yes to him, and her new name for him was 'The Bloody Git'. She didn't even call him Black anymore unless it was to his face. Lily found it hilarious as he was constantly asking her out, and she was constantly saying no without even thinking about it. Whenever she said something about it, Eva would just point out that she and James were the exact same way for six years, and then Lily would blush and mumble something unintelligible.

Eva was also excelling in her classes, and she and Lily were tied for the top of their year. Eva had grown to actually develop a French accent after talking in it for months. She also quite liked her new look as Eva Dumbledore. She did often wonder how her brother and his friends were doing, but she would do her best to brush it off and assume they were fine. She had also begun to wonder how much time would have passed when she got back.

On Halloween, Eva was in a horrible mood, as she was every year on Halloween, except she didn't have a valid reason for it this year. Her parents had technically died on this day, and yet they were walking around and laughing with her. Sirius had made it his goal to cheer her up, but he wasn't doing so well.

Eva walked into the Great Hall with Lily. Grandfather was supposed to make some big announcement and he hadn't even told her what it was about. She and Lily sat down at the Gryffindor table next to James, who immediately latched onto Lily's hand making her blush and Eva smirk. Unfortunately for Eva, Sirius slid into the seat on the other side of her,

"Hey Evie, will you go on a date with me?" He asked immediately, making everyone but Eva smirk, and she rolled her eyes.

"Keep on dreaming Black." She said without even looking at him. She could tell he was pouting though and bit her lip to keep from smiling, making Lily wiggle her eyebrows and Eva gag dramatically.

"May I have your attention please." Grandfather's voice rang out across the hall, and everyone immediately stopped whispering.

"This year is the year of the Interhouse Tournament. For those of you who don't know, this is a tournament between houses that occurs every seven years. One person from years two through seven in each house will be chosen and compete for their house in a series of dangerous tasks. Every person from those years will be automatically entered into the group of names chosen from. If you are chosen, you will represent your house as you go through these tasks and the winner receives and award for the trophy room, along with 300 points for their house. There was absolute silence, and Eva raised an eyebrow. She had never heard of something like this. It must have been discontinued before she got to school, though it did sound quite a bit like the Triwizard Tournament.

"The house champions will be announced on November 2nd. In two days. Goodnight, and good luck."

"Wow," Lily said as they walked back to the common room, "How have I never heard of this before?" Eva shrugged,

"I have no idea. I actually haven't either and my Grandfather is the headmaster, he wouldn't tell me anything about it. It does sound quite a bit like the Triwizard Tournament though." Lily nodded,

"That's true. I wonder who'll get picked. It would be brilliant if it was you. You are definately good enough to win." Eva smiled at her,

"Thanks Lils."

"Woah, Woah, woah. I don't want my Evie ending up in that tournament. It sounds much too dangerous." Sirius' voice came from behind them, as he jogged to catch up.

"I'm not your anything. And I've had worse, don't worry about me." Lily and Sirius looked at her worriedly,

"What do you mean you've had worse?" Sirius asked sharply, and Eva inwardly cursed herself.

"Ah, nevermind." She muttered, hurrying through the portrait hole, leaving Lily and Sirius staring after her worriedly.

Eva really hoped they wouldn't try to find out what she meant. She hadn't meant to say that, and she wasn't supposed to have been in danger before. Not as Eva Dumbledore anyway. As Violet Potter, she had gotten into plenty of danger, but she couldn't let them know that. She might end up having to tell Lily that as she knew who she really was, but Eva had avoided telling her much about the future so far, and she didn't want that to change. She would probably just tell her about being in the Triwizard Tournament. Yes, that was what she would tell her.

When Lily joined her in the dormitory later, she asked softly,

"What did you mean earlier, about having worse?" Eva smiled weakly at her,

"In my time, I was entered in the Triwizard Tournament. It was different to say the least, and someone died." Lily's jaw dropped and she sank onto her bed.

"Someone died?" She asked worriedly. Eva nodded sadly,

"Yes, his name was Cedric. He was a Hufflepuff." Lily reached over and pulled her into a hug, knowing it was obviously still bothering her. Eva smiled, thankful she finally had someone to take care of her, and fell asleep in Lily's arms, while her mother stared down at her sadly, wishing her daughter could have just had a normal life.
