Life is not about finding 'x'

I'm not dead, only inside but that's beside the point.

"Good morning Inko" Inko was already awake when Todoroki came in the kitchen in the morning

"Good morning. Is Izuku still sleeping?"

Todoroki nods and sits down on the opposite of the table where Inko sat "And where is Toshinori?"

"Working" she says and sits some of her tea "If you're hungry just take whatever you can find here"

"Thank you but I'm not hungry"

Inko shakes her head in caring disappointment, but then chuckles "Well you know where the fridge is" soon after that her smile fades "How is Izuku doing? I barely see him these days"

Todoroki also got sad after being reminded of what is happening right now "Everything was alright I guess. Then he found out that Uraraka was talking bad stuff and got mad at her. So now everything is kinda, well, not so good"

"Oh. Do you know what she was saying? I always thought she is a nice girl"

"In short; she doesn't really like me and now acts as if she knows what's better for Midoriya, and I think she mentioned this Shigaraki guy. But I think you need to hear this from Midoriya"

She nods "Thank you Todorki"

This kind of surprised him. He didn't do anything, for Inko to be thankful "For what?"

"Being there for my son" she smiles at him "You know, you made him really happy"

He scratched his neck "And vise versa"

She sighs deeply "So when is the wedding?"

"Inko we are only in our early 20s"

She gasps "Already?" she asks sarcastically. After they shared a laugh, she was still curious about something "So, why does Uraraka hate you?"

Todoroki was a little embarrassed, to be honest "Oh, I'm dumb, I can't do math"

Inko at first thought, he was joking, but he kept a straight face "Then Uraraka must hate me too"

"Why is that? We got nothing but support from you"

"I can't do math myself. Who do you think does my taxes? My neighbour helps me out" she laughs "You look so surprised"

"Because I am!"

"Oh silly. I never was good at math, I always skipped that class"

Now he was just more surprised "You skipped classes?"

"All the time my dear" she answers him casually

Inko was quite rebellious in her teen years. She didn't really have a dream back then, she just wanted to be happy. So she did what made her happy.

School was really the last thing that made her happy. Of course she came in every now and then, but more often she went out with her friends on little adventures.

Her parents found out short before graduation and were really angry with her. She was in big trouble. But that didn't really stop her.

In the end, she had bad grades, but managed to graduate. And after that, she traveled everywhere she ever wanted to go, and even unplanned places.

She started out with a couple of friends, then they split, and she traveled alone for a while. She wasn't really alone though, she met so many nice people.

Well after some time of just travelling alone, she met Izuku's dad.

Inko wanted to keep on going places, but he convinced her to go back. She agreed. Inko didn't think that all the adventures will end at that. She was right, they ended after she got Izuku.

Aside from all the places she visited and loved, people she met, and friends had, Izuku was still the best.

So, she got married, had Izuku, and never left the country again. And before Izuku moved out and she could go to different places again, she was too tired. After Izuku leaving, the abusive past with her husband, and then him leaving too.

She decided that she had enough fun, and now will rest. There is nothing bad in that. People know that, but they deny it, society denies it.

"As you can see, I didn't fail life, as they always say in school and college" she takes Todorki's hand in hers "Life is what you make out of it, not if you can find 'x'. That's just nonsense in the end"

And with this small speech, Inko gave Todoroki more confidence in himself and his knowledge. Now he knows that he doesn't need this daddy's money to be happy.

"And you just went with your friends, with nothing?" it sounded unbelievable for him. His life was always money and career.

She nods "If you ask if we had money, then I need to say, we only had enough to buy ramen noodles that will be enough for a week" she smiles at these memories "I miss these people"

Todoroki wanted the life she had, but without the bad stuff, he has his own problems.

"I won't be surprised if you end up running away with my son" she added

"What are you talking about?" Midoriya walked in, still sleepy

Inko looked at Todorki and then back at Midoriya "Taxes"

Midoriya sits down on the right of Todorki, and left of Inko "Don't lie to me, you both can't do taxes"

"We were making fun of each other" Inko responded

Midoriya smiles "You would do that. Where is Toshinori?"

"Work" she says "So do you two have something planned for today?" the two of shake their heads "Good, then you two can go and buy groceries" and so Inko gave the Katy Perry song and broccoli a shopping list and kicked them out.

"Your mother is really nice" Todorki says as he takes knifes off of the shelve of the super market

"You haven't seen her dark side yet, but aside from that, yes she is"

Todoroki watched Midoriya pick out the groceries with hearts in eyes. He just loves this boy.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

"Cause I love you"

Midoriya smiles "I know" he puts a rope in their cartwheel "I love you too"

Todoroki didn't say anything, he just smiled. Knowing that the person he loves, loves him back is enough. And for now, he just wants to be happy, forget about all the troubles while they're buying groceries for Inko.

So the two idiots, stayed the rest of the day at Inko's. Once Toshinori came, they also talked. And once it was evening, they headed back.

Like usual they went to Midoriya's dorm, and like usual Uraraka and Iida were there.

Uraraka threw herself on Midoriya as if she didn't say all those bad things to him like a day ago.

She cups his face "Where were you" she looks at Todoroki and then back at Midoriya "Did you forget what I've told you?"

He puts her hands off of him "Ehm no, I didn't" he steps back from her "You are the problem here, Uraraka"

She turns around to Iida in hope hell take her side "Iida!"

He sighs "I'm sorry, but I don't want to be a part of this fight"

"Are you kidding?" she was frustrated that no one wanted to be on her side

"No" he takes some of his books "I came to college to study, and I became friends with you to trust and have fun, not to fight all the time. Once you got your shit together, we can hang out again. But I don't want more stress than I already have" then he walks out

She watches him walk out and then slowly turns back around to Midoriya and Todoroki "This is all your fault, Todoroki" then she also ran out

Midoriya was a little bit shocked, okay maybe a lot. All this happened because she didn't like that Todoroki wasn't the best at math?

Something just doesn't add up.
