Forbidden Love

Chapter 2

So we show up to the fair, and we see Nate coming our way.

"Hey Baby," he said with a smile as he gave Skyler a big hug. "Happy 1-year anniversary!" He said as he gave her a small silver box.

Inside was a beautiful silver necklace with a lock on it.

"I love it!" Shrieked Skyler as he put it on her.

"So everyone knows that you're mine," Nate explained.

"Here." Skyler handed him a gift, but it wasn't wrapped or in a box, it had a red bow on top.

"Awwe thanks baby. How'd you know that this is my favorite cologne?" He asked as he sprayed some on.

"I was pretty sure that that's what it was, but I asked your mom to double check," Skyler giggled as Nate tickled her.

It was just about to get dark, so we all got some food before we went on some of the rides. As usual, us two girls got a corn dog each, with extra ketchup, and we each got a small lemonade. Nate got a cheeseburger and a Pepsi.

"Oooh! Let's get on the Shock Drop!!" Me and Skyler shrieked at the same time.

"Nicole, you and Skyler are too much alike!" Nate laughed.

"Skyler, PLEASE tell me you have my phone!" I asked worriedly as I checked my backpocket for the 3rd time.

After she checked her pocket and purse she said, "No, umm Nate do you have it?"

"Nope, sorry," Nate said sounding like this already happened 5 minutes ago, which by the way, it didn't.

"Umm, is this your phone?" I heard from behind me.

"Yes!! Oh my gosh thank you so much! My parents would have killed me!" I said reaching for my phone.

"Nope," he said pulling it up in the air. He's about 3 or more inches taller than me, so I couldn't reach it.

"Hey!!" I yelled, getting angry.

"I'll give it back, but first at least tell me your name. After all, I did find your phone," he said with a grin.

"Nicole. What's yours?" I say, hoping to get my phone back now.

"Caleb. Caleb Rivers. 17 years old. How old are you?" He said handing me my phone.

"15." I said looking at my shoes shyly. After I got my phone back, and talked to him more, I started to realize, he's REALLY cute!!! I think I like him...

"I know we just met and all, but do you wanna ride the Farris Wheel with me?" He asked with a shy smile, hands in pockets.

"Ummmm..." I say looking at Skyler for help.

"Can you... give us a minute?" Skyler said, dragging me out of earshot.
"SAY YES!" She shout-whispers. "Caleb might end up being your boyfriend!!"
"Yeah, but..." I manage to say before she cuts me off.
"Nicole, he FOUND your phone. He's CUTE! Just SAY YES!!" She says shaking me slightly by the shoulders.

•*•Caleb's POV•*•

"Hey Nate, um, this is awkward, do you think she'd go out with me?" Caleb asked Nate nervously.

"Awh someone has a cru-ush!!"

"Dude stop!" I said, blushing a little. And slapping him on the arm. "But seriously dude, what do you think she'd say?"

"I don't know. But I wish you the best." Nate said trying to encourage me.

"Dude, here they come. This conversation NEVER happened!" I said. I'm getting really nervous now.

•*•Nicole's POV•*•

We walk back over and Skyler just says that she asked if I had any lipgloss she could borrow.

"So, how about that ride?" Caleb asks me.

"Sure" I say with a shy smile.

We get in line and it goes surprisingly fast. We go around a few times, then we are stopped at the top for a minute. 3 minutes. 5 minutes. 10 minutes.

"Okay, what's going on?" I ask Caleb indirectly.

"I honestly have no idea. Are you okay?" He asks when he sees me shiver.

"Yeah, I'm just kinda cold, and a little scared." I admit.

"Here," he says as he puts his jacket on me. "Is that better?"

"Yeah thanks. But aren't you going to get cold?" I ask, taking off his jacket.

"No, I'm fine, don't worry about me." He puts the jacket back on me. "Are you still scared?"

"Yeah," I sigh. "The cart thing just keeps swaying and I feel like we are going to fall, and..." I almost start to cry, and I'm feeling embarrassed. I just met Caleb, and I really like him, and I really don't want him to see me cry.

"It's okay. I'm right here. I'll keep you safe, I promise," Caleb says as he puts his arm around me, and I put my head on his shoulder.

We finally get down and back to Skyler and Nate.

"Do I see a new couple?!" Skyler asks excitedly, pointing to us.

With his arm still around me, and me still wearing his jacket, I look up at him.
"Uh, I guess. If Nicole is okay with that...?" he half explains, half asks.
"Yeah, I'm okay with that," I say with a big smile and he hugs me.
