Notes: mmm possible controversial opinion but imma say it anyway:
I didn't like Steve's ending, but then again, it didn't ruin his character arc
Also um Sambucky rights

"So when were you gonna tell us about what the hell happened back there?" yelled Bucky
Bucky, Sam and Steve were in Steve's  room, as he was packing.
Steve stood up and gave him a look.
"I don't know what you mean."
"You're a terrible liar. You know exactly what I mean. You were going back for Peggy. So why didn't you."
Steve thumped his stuff on the ground.
"Because I realised something, while I was back in 1970. Peggy was my first love, and yes, those feelings I had for her will never properly go away, but she moved on. She's got a husband and kids!  So if she's moved on, so should I. Besides, I got you back Buck! I can't leave you! I can't leave you, or Sam, or Pepper, or Bruce, Or Scott or..."
Steve paused, before speaking again.
"Or Nat."
"I KNEW IT!" yelled Sam, jumping up from the bed where he'd been sat during this whole conversation.
Bucky and Steve turned to him
"Please elaborate love, cause I have no idea what the fuck you're saying." said Bucky.
"Language!" said Steve warningly.
"Well, I would've thought it's obvious!" said Sam, ignoring Steve's statement, "He's in love with Natasha!"
Steve scoffed.
"Guys, Nat's my best friend. That's all she is. That's all we'll ever be."
Lies.
"C'mon, what about all the times you two pretended to be a couple those years we were on the run? All those hugs? All those kisses?"
"They were to keep our cover from being blown!"
More lies.
"And are we even going to discuss what happened in Detroit?"
"SAM!"
"Detroit?"
"We're not discussing it."
"Tell you later." mouthed Sam to his boyfriend
"Anyway... there is nothing going on!"
"Come on, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense! Get off your high horse Steve, and admit you love her!"
"No I don't!" He yelled, slamming his suitcase shut. He was about to storm out the room, when Sam slyly said
"Oh yeah? Well then, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with offering Nat to stay at your place since her home exploded."
"Fine, ya know what Sam? Done. That's easy."
Steve then stormed out, regretting every decision he'd ever made.
