Prologue

Luke's POV

I feel a sharp smack to the side of my head and I quickly turn my head in the direction in which the smack came from. I see a smiling Ashton smirking with a flip flop in his hand.

"will you pay attention now?' he asks

I didn't even realize I was zoning out. Now all three of the boys were staring at me and there was a girl standing next to Ashton. I didn't even realize there was someone else here. Was I really not paying attention to anything.

"back to what I was saying-" the girl started.

"wait who are you again?" I questioned, getting a disappointed stare from Ashton.

"dude, we've already been over this! she's my cousin" Ashton started. damn, I really haven't been paying attention.

"now all of us are going to see her friend tonight, there's some concert thing that takes place tonight at her school and she is performing a whole set of our songs" Ashton beamed. He always loved hearing covers of our songs.

"and why are we going?' Michael asked. this time Ashton hit him with the flip flop instead of me.

"because she's been going through a really hard time and she could use some cheering up," Ashton's cousin said. wait what was her name? Callie? Caylee? something like that.

"what's your name again? I questioned dumbly. Ashton once again trying to hit me with the flip flop. she pulled his arm down before he got the chance.

"its okay Ashton" she started, "its Carson" I was close I admit. now Ashton looked concerned.

"really dude whats going on with you?" he asked. I admit I wasn't going through the best time right now. it had been a month since I and sierra had broken up and I was still a mess. I didn't love her anymore, I couldn't she cheated on me! I just missed someone's touch that wasn't these three fucktards.

"I'm fine' i mumbled, 'let's go" I really didn't want to talk to him about this. hell, I didn't want to talk to anyone about this. they would probably just think I was stupid and tell me to go get laid. I really didn't want to do that right now.

One after another we all followed Carson and Ashton downstairs and into his car. it was extremely hot. Florida was always like that. we had been staying in Florida for about a week now. trying a new place to write and record songs for our new album. we were here for another six months so I better get used to this heat.

I didn't even realize that we had even left the driveway when Carson announced that we were here. she always seemed so bubbly and excited, hopefully, her friend wasn't like this. I mean she's performing a whole set of our songs. she has to be a fan. Hopefully, she didn't freak out when she saw us, I couldn't handle extreme fans right now. Michael punched my shoulder motioning me to get out of the car. I really don't know why I feel like such shit right now. all I want to do is get some alcohol in my system and fall asleep. sure I loved my fans but I really wasn't in the mood.

I finally made it out of the car and slowly dragged my feet behind the others as we walked into one of the campus buildings. when we stepped through the doors I was met with what looked like a tiny stadium, I didn't realize her school had a whole arena basically. they must really care about the arts or something. I remember Ash telling me that her cousin went to school for music but I didn't realize it was like this.

we got some stares as we walked in but I paid no attention. I wasn't in the mood to be the center of attention. Carson led us up to what looked like a lighting booth. I figured that we weren't going to be standing in the crowd with everyone else and this felt nice a secluded.

"ill be right back guys I'm gonna go see how Jasey is doing" Carson quickly got out before she left the room.

"wait who is Jasey?" I asked. was she the girl we were here to see?

"Literally the whole reason you're here Luke keep up" Calum informed. it wasn't my fault I wasn't paying attention to names. I wanted to snap something back at him but honestly, I didn't have enough energy to fight with anyone.

"why is everyone on edge?' Ash questioned, 'we're here to see Carson's friend not bicker at one another can we please just get along and watch the show?" I could tell he was mad. Ash didn't see his family often and right now we were all being dicks. it seemed like everyone was pissed at me. its all my fault, hell if this continues on the whole band might break up. then we would leave our fans with nothing. I really didn't want to do that.

I sat in the lighting booth checking my phone for what felt like hours until I checked the clock and realized it had only been 10 minutes. I hear the door open and incomes, Carson, smiling like her normal self.

"How is she?" ash questioned I could tell he was excited to see her friend. I mean the place was packed. I didn't realize that it was this big of a deal.

"she's beyond nervous, she sat there for a solid five minutes explaining she wouldn't go on stage. she thinks everyone hates her, I mean most people have never even heard her sing!" she continued to ramble on and on how she had to force jasey to actually go through with the concert. I mean has she ever done something like this? obviously performing wasn't for everyone but everyone gets nervous before a performance. even I do sometimes. I remember Carson mentioning that Jasey was going to something right now but I didn't know the details. I mean I don't think I could go on stage right now and preform, even though I don't know what she's going through I know its something. I finally tuned back into the conversation.

" she's gonna be great I know it. it's about to start now let's just hope that she actually comes on stage" Carson continues. not gonna lie I was kinda excited I mean there's was so many people here she must be good. I mean I know it's a school thing but still. I lean back in my chair and go back to scrolling on my phone waiting for it to start.
