Catra's POV

I woke up in the Fright Zone bed and saw Adora sleeping with her feet curled up on our bed.

"Wake up sleepyhead," I purred trying to conceal it but groaned when I saw Adora looking at me with a smirk on her face.

"Aghhhh, get that smirk off of your face Adora." I said shoving her towards the edge of the bed.

"Come on Catraaaaa," she said with a false pleading voice with puppy dog eyes which then turned into a giggle as she threw the blanket over my head.

I started laughing and shoved the blanket off of my face, "Anyway we better go to training, Shadow Weaver's gonna have my head if her star student is late for training."

"You know that's not true Catra..." Adora said looking at me sadly.

I gasped and turned around, "You know it is Adora! You left me!" I said with anger as I was about to storm off but Adora's hand grasped my arm grazing my fingers.

"Catra... I- what do you mean left you?" Adora asked questioningly.

"I-," the words disappeared from my mind as I shook my head and said "Nevermind."

**Training**

"Force Captain Adora was supposed to be at the invasion of Salineas right now but instead she insisted that if she couldn't bring her team, she wouldn't go." Shadow Weaver said coldly the words icily gliding off her tongue.

Lonnie chuckled and put her arm around Adora with a congratulating gesture.

"Thanks you guys," Adora said standing up straight, "Shadow Weaver wanted me to tell you guys about our strategy for tearing down the Sea Gate."

Adora started showing placements, positions, and where to strike while Shadow Weaver looked eerily over her shoulder.

"So lemme get this straight, the 'plan' is to just charge straight through with battleships and hope the Sea Gate crumbles." I stepped up while asking, examining the predictable plan.

"Um-" Adora started off before being cut off by Shadow Weaver who stepped up in front of Catra.

"I will not tolerate insubordination with you cadet! Adora's plan is in fact the perfect solution." Shadow Weaver said putting her finger under my chin and flicking it up.

"I mean we could make changes to the-" Adora started getting cut off again as Shadow Weaver silenced her formally.

"Salineas will fall under our troops as long as none of you show incompetence." Shadow Weaver said before dismissing herself and quietly walking out of the room with her presence still lingering.

"Huh, that went better than I thought." I said looking disinterested while flicking my nails.

"Catra! You could've screwed up my chances!" Adora yelled.

"You'll get plenty more besides we get to invade Salineas together, isn't this all you've ever wanted?!" I said slinging my arm around her shoulder pads.

"Alright fine, this is pretty cool" Adora said with a giggle in her tone while gently lifting my arm off of her shoulders.

"Come on guys, it's time for our rations, it's the grey kind tonight!" Lonnie said rushing in excitedly with Kyle and Rogelio behind her.

"Phew, I've always hated that awful brown kind!" Adora said with relief.

I ran ahead sprinting and using my agility to climb up the Fright Zone walls.

"Wait up Catra!" Adora said panting as she tried to reach me but got further behind in every step.

"You're still the slowest person I know!" I said looking behind me giggling with every breath.

"This isn't fair." Adora called out with an amused tone breathing hard.

"Finally, I thought you died or something." I said looking down at her scrunched up form, it was the one time I could be taller than her.

"Stop acting like you're so tall." Adora said while playfully punching me on the shoulder.

"Hey, you're just unusually tall... besides 5,2 isn't that short" I said trying to come up with an excuse.

"Catra, I'm literally 5,6." Adora said clearly amused while we collected our rations.

"So... are you scared about the mission?" Adora said tauntingly while I looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"I mean... not that I think you're a coward or anything, but just asking about your thoughts and that is that you're not so I'm just gonna..." Adora flustered while pointing her thumb over behind her.

I rubbed her hand and said "Adora, it's fine just don't get all flustered." knowing that it was a lot to ask of her.

"Sure! I mean maybe I'll accidentally like..." I covered her mouth with my hand with her mumbling into my hand.

"Stopping now." she said. I started laughing with her wiping the happy tears from her eyes.

"Force Captain Adora and troops, report for duty immediately, skiffs at bay ready for initiation."

"Come on Catra we need to go ASAP!" Adora said with a tone of emergency while I just rolled my eyes but still eager to explore outside of the Fright Zone. Adora grabbed my wrist and started running while I stumbled over but soon enough I easily gave myself balance and rushed ahead of her not wanting her to be faster than me.

"We're- heree-" Adora said panting ready to get into the skiffs which we would use to go to the Horde ships.

Soon enough we were soaring with Adora driving the skiff and the rest of the troops partnered up in pairs of two except for Kyle, Lonnie, and Rogelio who decided it would be better to be a trio which left Octavia alone. Neither Kyle, Lonnie, or Rogelio wanted to pair up with dumb face, eye scratched out lady.

"Let me drive! I've always wanted to try one of these things out?!" I said with excitement and question as I inched myself towards the control of the skiff.

"Woah- wo-woah Catra! We're gonna crash!" Adora said panicking.

Instead of replying I snatched the control accidentally crashing us into the middle of the whispering woods.

I could see Adora was mad but she stopped as she gazed in awe at the sight before us.

"Wha-what is that?!" she said pointing towards pink swirls with sky blue highlights whirling around something with a blueish white tint and a gold edge.

My mind filled up with flashes, a tall blonde warrior with raging hair and bright blue eyes looking at me angrily, a mad Adora who had just tossed down a flower from her hair holding my hand gently before letting it go, words spoken in my mind matching the voice of Adora talking about needing to find something.

"That is none of our business." I said icily before dragging Adora by the arm forcefully pulling her up to go back to the skiff and giving the sword which I felt like I recognized a cold hard look.
