Water.

That's all that was running through my mind.

Ever since Accalia gave me full control, it has been non stopped moving. We avoided Zarik's pack like they were the plague. I barely knew the forest and Accalia has never gone this deep, we constantly were getting lost and twice now, we've nearly been caught by a patrol.

Because the river runs through the territory, we've been having to rely on ocean water, which only made us sick and more lethargic, thus leading to us barely being able to hunt or find shelter for us when it gets colder in the night.

Winter is coming. I could feel it. The leaves were all gone from the trees, turning into mush and mixing in with the soil. The days are shorter and heavy clouds constantly taunt us as they block out the sun and threaten to pour their icy water upon us. I could feel Accalia weakening as her body wasn't built to survive this type of climate like mine. I needed to find water. And fast.

I was about ready to just say "screw it" and go into the territory to get some water, not caring about the consequences. If a patrol group caught us and took us to the alpha, then I'll deal with the consequences. After all, nothing can be worse than having to reject my mate.

Remembering Zarik brought up a whole other type of pain through me as I remembered Zarik's face when I told him about what I and Accalia were planning on doing. Having to write out that note just made it all the worse as I knew that if Accalia accepts the rejection, then we would be completely torn from Zarik and Grimsley, not even the mating process will be able to tie us back together.

The only thing that could is death. Feeling weaker than ever, I finally collapsed onto the cold, hard ground and let out a heavy sigh, finally feeling all my strength leaving me.

"Orchid? Are you okay?" I heard Accalia ask me, concerned.

"I'm sorry Accalia. I don't think I'll be able to take us any farther. This entire forest is overruled by elite packs, so no matter where we go, we'll never be safe. Besides, your parents will soon realize you're gone right? Or at least Flower will take control and make your mother look for us." I suggested. I knew Accalia's response before she even did it.

She got quiet. It wasn't like she was pulling away from me or blocking me out. She was just thinking. Thinking about everything that I and her have just gone through and if it's worth leaving.

"We've already gone this far. Grimsley nor Zarik will welcome us with open arms. My parents probably haven't even noticed that we're gone and everyone's living out their normal lives as if we never existed. Orchid. I don't care where we go. As long as we're together, I don't care. You're the only thing at this point that's keeping me going." I could tell Accalia was about ready to burst into tears, and I felt as though I were about to do the same thing.

"I know they won't. And I know everyone probably doesn't even realize that we're gone. I want to keep us safe. But I can't as long as we're in this state. We need to find a new state to live in. One where no one will recognize us or even know our past.

But I don't know where we would go for that. Nowhere is safe for us. We're rogues. We're unwanteds. Wolves don't want to notice us for a whole separate reason. One that is more violent than not wanting a mate."

"Orchid. We need to risk it and go into the territory. I don't care about which territory. As long as it has water and some sort of shelter that we can use. But we can't die now. Not with how far we've been able to come."

"Alright. Hopefully, snow will fall soon so then our scent will be masked and we'll be able to blend in better."

With that being said, I took a deep breath and got back up on my paws. As sick as I was, I was still able to hear water running, despite the coldness that is engulfing it slowly. Shakingly, I headed towards it, straining my ears for any sounds of pawsteps beating at the ground like drums.
