I wake up to the sound of feathers fluttering in the window beside me, as Pansy grabs a letter from her owl and closes the window with a creaaaakkkk. She glares at me and leaves the room, and I roll over in bed, checking the clock and laying in bed for a few minutes before fully getting up.

I take my shower bag and towel to the bathroom to get ready, and when I get there it's nearly empty. Pansy woke me up too early, the sun is just rising. I shower, and miss home more and more as my mind wonders. I turn off the hot water and wrap myself in my towel, moving over toward the mirrors. I begin to dry my hair and scrunch my brown curls, looking at my small figure in the mirror.

After a while, I leave and get dressed in the room, Daphne's awake now, doing her makeup at her desk. I look at my schedule again and sigh,

"I wonder who you're going to shaddow." Daphne says from across the room.

"Well what are my options?" I say, putting my books into my backpack.

"Um, well there's Millicent, she's kind of weird though.." Daphne trails on, "or maybe you'll get Blaise, he can be cool sometimes, I hope you get him, or you could get Draco," she turns back to her mirror, brushing her face with a powder.

"Who's Draco?" I say and suddenly there's a knock at the door. Daphne and I look at each other and she giggles as I open the door to see a tall blonde boy in front of me.

"You're Cassandra Octavius?" He says, looking me up and down.

"It's Cassie, actually. And you are?" I question, folding my arms.

"Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." he replied, "I'm here to show you around the school, to your classes and all that. We best be going soon or we'll be late to breakfast."

I turned around and slipped on my shoes, grabbing my bag and smiled as I left with him. He was considerably taller than me, a measly 5'4, he has to be at least 6 feet. We walked through the corridor and down into the common room, as two boys stopped Draco to say hi and he shrugged them off.

"Who was that?" I asked,

"Oh just Crab and Goyle, I wouldn't suggest talking to them though," he said, whispering the last part, "They'll just get you into trouble."

My breath hitched and he smiled as we continued into the stairwell leading us up into the rest of Hogwarts. After showing me around some of the classrooms and teacher's offices, he took me to the bridge above the courtyard. As we were walking he stopped in the middle, looking out above the students. "This is my favorite place in the school. Nobody uses this bridge because all the classes on the other side got moved, they're abandoned essentially."

"It's gorgeous here. Except for all the rain, that part sucks." I said, leaning up against the side of the bridge.

"Where are you from exactly?" he asked, meeting my stare. His eyes are memorizing, a silver type I've never seen before.

"Um, America, specifically, Colorado, but I went to school in Massachusetts. It's so sunny there and this school is a lot smaller than my old one." I replied, nervously picking at my fingertips until they bled with a few tiny cuts while answering the question.

"Hey, don't do that." He says, grabbing my hands and holding them in his.

"Wh-what?" I say, watching as he grabs his wand from the pocket of his jacket, tapping my fingers and whispering "Episkey," my fingertips weren't bleeding anymore. He had used a healing spell on me.

"Don't do that to your fingers, okay?" he smiled reassuringly.

"Uh okay." I laughed and turned again to look out at the students below us.

We stood together in silence until it was time to start classes, and Draco and I went our separate ways since he had already walked me through where mine were located. I went to Charms and sat by Daphne, as our professor went through the basics, rules of the classroom, expectations, and what we'll be doing this year. Mostly simple charms, like fire starting, banishing, and growth. I know most of the charms already, but it seems I'll be learning a lot more because everyone around slytherin is always using magic for things.

"Sooooo.. How was it?" Daphne asks me as we walk to our next classes.

"Uh, it was good, Malfoy's really sweet." I said, and her eyes widened.

"What do you mean, sweet?" She questions.

"Uh, i don't know he's just nice, and he used a healing spell on me when I had a cut. he's sweet." I shrugged.

"Oh my god, Malfoy's totally into you!" she whisper-screams.

"Shut up! he is not!"

"Look, I gotta go, but Cassie, I'm telling you Malfoy isn't sweet to anyone. He's the most slytherin of all of us. He's got to be into you."

"Whatever, see you later." I wave and with that I hurry myself to my next class, care of magical creatures.

After class is done, I start my trek all the way to the greenhouse for my next class, herbology. I love herbology, what I don't like though is the long walk all the way to the greenhouse. I show up a few minutes late, and when I open the door there's a small room already filled with students. The professor is in the middle of talking and when she stops everyone stares at me. I can feel my cheeks start to heat up from all the eyes.

"Uh- sorry," I say

"Well that's alright dear, just don't be late again. There, you take a seat next to Cedric, he'll be your partner. Go ahead. Now, back to the Gillyweed-" she continued. I took the only open seat next to the boy in yellow taking notes.

"I'm Cassie," I whispered, taking out my notebook and trying to listen to what the professor was saying.

"Cedric, pleasure to meet you," he smiled. "you're new."

"Yeah, a transfer from ilvermorny."

"Now students, get with your partners and you have the rest of the time to explore through the garden and take observations," said the professor, and with that Cedric led us through near the lake.

We sat in the grass, looking out to the water.

"So what's it like, ilvermorny?" he asked, grabbing an apple from his bag and taking a bite.

"It's way bigger than this school. My house was called Thunderbird, and our dorm had its own library. It was gorgeous. However, I will say that the greenhouse here is impressive." I said, and explained more about my old school, Cedric nodded.

"Well even though Hogwarts is small it can still be fun if you know where to look," he smiled, but before I could ask what he meant the professor was calling everyone back and class was over.
