The song playing from the radio was both calming and relaxing. It was exactly the type of music Dawuni liked to listen if he wanted to start his day right. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and hummed along with the tune as he sat in his car, his eyes taking in every detail of his surroundings.
Dawuni had parked the rogue just across the street, a few metres away from Electronic Arcade. The shop was yet to be opened for the day. It was still early in the morning and the sun had just risen a short distance from the horizon, bathing everything in a pale golden light.
The street was getting quite busy as adults made thier way to work and children to school. A lot of shops were yet to be opened, but a few were, notably the food joints.
Dawuni's trained eyes took in everything. His detective mind noting the pattern and general atmosphere as people interacted with one another. Some going to make money and others going to school so that one day they could make money.
It was amusing, to think that most of the struggles people went through each day was so that they could make money, pieces of paper.
Dawuni watched as a young man on a motorcycle parked in the small parking lot of Electronic Arcade. The man went to the shop, unlocking it and entering inside. Dawuni waited for a few minutes, then sauntered across the street to into the shop.
The shop was big. Rows upon rows of shelves and stands displayed various electronic gadgets. From laptops to smartphones, kiddie gadgets, printers, tablets, televisions and a host of other gadgets that Dawuni couldn't name. He walked over to the counter where the young man was and greeted whilst flashing his badge.
" My name is Detective Dawuni". Dawuni said." I would like to speak to the one in charge."
"That'll be the manager". The young man whose name tag read Laryea responded." But he's away on a business trip. My colleagues are not yet in so I'm the only one here."
"Okay. Um..I need some information on the drone that we're ordered by the shop on the 27th of last month."
"Is everything alright, sir?" Laryea asked nervously.
"There's nothing to worry about". Dawuni smiled." I just need to know who bought the drones and when."
"Just a minute." Laryea consulted the computer and looked up." Four of the drones were bought by Baobab Media House and the other one ordered by a certain Mr Kuma Dzeto."
"Can I have thier addresses?" Dawuni asked, although he already knew the answer.
"I'm sorry". Laryea shook his head." But it is against our customer policy".
" I'm sure your manager won't be too pleased to hear that you were invited by the CID for questioning." Dawuni was bluffing but he silently hoped Laryea would buy into his bluff.
Laryea seemed to consider for a few moments, but made up his mind and seconds later , the printer whirred to life coughing out a sheet of paper. Laryea gave him the paper, silently wondering if he was doing the right thing.
Dawuni thanked him and left the shop. He checked the address and decided to go to the media house first before Mr Kuma.
As he got into his car, Dawuni noticed a small folded paper lying on the front passenger seat. He frowned.
Picking up the paper gingerly, Dawuni opened it .
" One of Man's greatest weaknesses
is his family.
Remember that, Mr Dawuni"
