As instructed Maria went first to King Potts, when she landed she directed her comments directly to the King, "Sire, the Dragon Council has decided not to take any direct action in this war, however, we may assist you however you might need us. There is a caveat, if any dragon is injured by either side, all dragons will be removed from your conflict. As far as we know, only two black dragons have sided with Prince Charred, and I doubt if any more will. Because of that, the black dragons that are uncommitted have been ordered to not join with you to avoid any confusion. I was instructed to come to you first, and then give the same information to King Gauldarn. Do you have any questions, or any information you want passed on to King Gauldarn?"
King Potts gave a great sigh of relief, "You bring wonderful news Miss Maria, please thank your leadership for me at your next opportunity. No, I don't have any message for Gauldarn, other than the traps are being prepared. Thank you, Miss Maria."
With a smile in her voice, "Maria is fine your Majesty." She departed for her next stop, and with a very sincere hope in her heart that she be able to rest before having to do anything else. To herself, "I don't mind being a messenger, but all this back and forth is tiering, and I'm not quite as young as I once was."
It wasn't long before she arrived at King Gauldarn's castle, and as before, she directed her message directly to King Gauldarn, "Sire, the Dragon Council has decided not to take any direct action in this war, however, we may assist you however you might need us. I was instructed to come to King Potts first, and then give the same information to you. Do you have any questions Sire?"
That is excellent news Maria, please thank . . . oh, what is his name, your leader?"
Maria had to chuckle, "Egbert your Highness."
"Oh yes, Egbert. Anyway, please thank him for me and everyone in the Land of Elf. You and your Brothern's ability to fly high above and observe troop movements will be invaluable to us all." There was a momentary pause, "Maria, do you have any other errands or instructions?"
"I do not Sire, I was hoping that I would be able to get a good rest before doing anything else."
"That sounds like an excellent idea. Several of your dragon friends have already been here and are already patrolling and protecting outlying villages. Get your rest, next sun will come too soon. Oh, and Gabby told me to tell you that she was excited about the council's decision, though she didn't go into detail as you did. She is a beautiful dragon, I've never seen a totally white one before, but I must remember to not get her talking. Gracious."
Maria laughed, "Thank you, Sire." She then, with great relief and laid her head on her right front leg. She was quickly asleep.
