"You ruined my plans." Stevie said, lying beside Lindsey, the covers pulled up to her chest, while he lay almost completely exposed.
"Excuse me?"
"Well, I was supposed to tease you through dinner and maybe then-"
"Oh, my sincere apologies for making you co-" Lindsey didn't get to finish his sentence as Stevie's hand covered his mouth. He gently pulled it away and looked down at her. "I forget that you can only act dirty, but never talk dirty." Since she didn't have a response, Lindsey rushed to say, what he had planned on saying. "I'm sorry, I made you come twice."
"I just don't see the point in talking." Stevie shrugged.
Seeing that her cheeks turned slightly pink, Lindsey couldn't resits, teasing her more. "You're so cute. I mean, some of the things we've done, whoa..."
"Lindsey, stop it!" She scolded him, sitting up. His eyes didn't meet hers, Stevie followed his line of sight and quickly grabbed the sheet to cover herself up again. "Dirty old man." Shaking her head, she snuggled up to him again, resting her head on his chest. "I was kind of being dishonest earlier."
"About what?" Lindsey frowned, thinking she was being serious about something.
"Dinner was already cooked, when you came into the living room. I guessed, we'd end up the way we did." Stevie looked up, smirking. "You've never been able to resist me."
He gasped, clutching his chest, then quickly dropped the act. "When you're right - you're right."
"I like us this way, when it's easy."
"We don't have to complicate anything." Lindsey said, pressing a kiss to her hair. "I love you, Steph, you know that. We keep talking, how we've only ever hurt each other. You say, there's a lot to resolve, but... what good has it ever done for us? Why focus on the bad stuff? Can't we just move on, at last, but this time together?"
"What if our problems resurface? What if we realize that we've lived in our perfect little bubble and it all comes crashing down one day?"
"I can't say that it won't." Lindsey shrugged. "Neither of us knows, what's going to happen next month, next year... all I know, Stevie, is that I'm happy now. I'm happy that we're together and it would tear my heart to pieces if I had to leave you again. I have never wanted to leave you."
At the risk of having an argument, Stevie brought up the last Fleetwood Mac show. "You sounded pretty sure, when you gave that speech before Say Goodbye. It broke my heart, Lindsey."
"I kind of did that for you, Steph." She frowned, but Lindsey continued. "I saw, how torn you were. You thought that saving your marriage was the right thing to do and I tried to be okay with that, but I don't think you were. I wanted to- to step out, to leave you alone, to remove myself from that whole situation." The list thing he wanted to do was make Stevie cry, seeing her eyes mist over, he leaned in and gently kissed her lips. She didn't resist. "That was stupid. I shouldn't have been okay with it. I should have shown you that you still were and are all I want."
With her bottom lip quivering, Stevie managed to smile weakly. "Let's move on. Together."
