Autumn, 2014 Dec. 9th
"Happy birthday to you~ happy birthday to you.." my family sang for me even if we were in a restaurant. This was my 9th birthday and in this age, you will start feeling embarassed when your father start dancing in public while singing the 'happy birthday' song. I blew the candles on the cake that my mom made for me. Well, this was a special day after all. Let's make a wish, everyone.
We got home after that. Some people in the restaurant greeted me as well. Even the people we met on the street. No, I'm not popular. Well, my dad is. But just in our hometown. My dad owned a dance studio and held dance classes every summer. Being his son, I always joined him to improve my dancing skills. It's been 6 years since I started dancing. My dad was a huge fan of Michael Jackson and taught me all of his dances. He seemed to be very proud whenever he asked me to dance in front of his friends. Quite embarassing, right? Well, I'm not against it. In fact, I love dancing. It was just my mom who wants me to focus on other things beside dancing. When I say other things, it means studying. I'm not a bad student, to be honest. I just don't want to be forced to do things I usually not interested with. Oh, my mom was not that bad. She still allows me to dance but there were some rules to follow, you know. Every summer, she will enroll me to different kinds of workshops or whatever classes she heard from the other parents. Painting class, violin class, skating, piano class, anything except dance. She wanted to know what kind of son I will be in the future.
"Riki-chan, go wash up and sleep early. We can't be late on your rehearsal." My dad reminded me. Oh, I forgot to tell you. I was chosen to perform in a concert. There was a Korean group named SHINee and they wanted me to dance with them. My dad posted some videos of me dancing some MJ stuff and few days later, we got a call for the entertainment saying that they were looking for kids who will perform with the group. I was very excited and nervous at the same time.
I never thought of performing in front of so many people. It was very new to me. And I started to like that new feeling.

2015, January
I started the new year with some good news. I was casted to perform in a tv program. I will be showing my dancing skills and tell them how MJ inspired me. The nerve-cracking feeling while dancing in front of many people was very addictive. People started noticing me even when we walked on the street or even in the grocery store. My school was not different. They asked me to perform in every event we had. Some schools invited me as well.
Summer has come and the first term ended. My mom enrolled me to an archery class.
I attended the first day and I felt like my arms will fall apart in any minute. She was not happy with my Math report. She believed that I failed because of dancing. Well, I forgot to do some review before the final exam. My dad made me join a dance contest 2 days before it. She and my dad argued because of that. At the end, she didn't allow me to go to the dance studio for the entire summer.2015, September
The second term just got started. I met with my classmates and shared how boring my summer was. I'm on my 5th grade now but it wasn't that interesting. Same class, same canteen, same people.
My mom made me promise to get high scores until 6th grade and she won't let me attend to some weird workshop anymore. I almost burned a studio when she got me to a baking class. Cookies aren't my thing.
I was being a good son and a student, sitting with my friends in the school library. We were playing a game. We have to get a book randomly and choose a page. Whoever got the most number of people in it, wins. I got a Dictionary.
We were having a Science class right now. The teacher is talking about eggs. I was feeling hungry since it's near lunch break. My mom forgot to pack me a lunch, or I just forgot to bring it with me, I don't know.
This is the time when me and my classmates started praying. Wishing for the bell to ring anytime soon. One of the teacher called our teacher for a minute outside. We got curious and start checking what's going on outside the hallway. My classmates near the door start talking. I was too hungry to get up on my chair to know why. Few minutes later, our sensei returned to the room with a folder on her hand. Her hand signalled the door asking for someone to come in.
"Everyone, we will have a new friend in this class." She announced. This might be the very cliché part of a drama you could've seen on tv where everything becomes slow and you will start hearing a very sweet music in the background.
