Nine years ago...

Thomas did notice when the red light turned green after an hour. He'd kept his eyes on that thing like his life depended on it.

He tipped the waiter handsomely before leaving. The waiter was so excited that he hoped Thomas would return to the strip club the next day to spend more money. He could use the extra cash.

When Thomas got outside that day, the Glowing Ruby was waiting for him in the shadows. She looked around furtively before stepping forward to meet him. Even without the mask and her stage clothes, she still looked dazzling.

"Where we headed?" She asked in a voice that was barely above a whisper. There was no one else in the street.

"My place," Thomas said eagerly. He couldn't see her face well but her eyes stared at him defiantly. He held open a door for her.

"Yer place got a name?" She eyed him suspiciously. She didn't trust men as a rule. They had always been awful to her.

Thomas told her where he lived which wasn't far from where the strip club was. Glowing Ruby sighed and got into the car. It was probably a bad idea getting into a car with a man she didn't know.

She whistled as she got into his car.

"Yer loaded! Why you gotta pay for some actio'?" Glowing Ruby asked him, wondering if he was deformed or something. He was handsome and obviously rich so she knew women would be flocking around him. He didn't need to pay a stripper for sex.

She didn't really trust the guy but she knew she could tackle him if he tried any shit. She'd beaten men twice his size after all.

"Does it matter? What's your name?" He asked, trying to change the subject immediately.

Glowing Ruby eyed him.
"Whatcha gotta kno' tha' f', hon'?" She asked still in her whispery tone.

"I like knowing the names of the women I fuck. Is that a problem?" He asked, glancing at her. She had really beautiful skin.

Glowing Ruby shrugged with a bored look on her face.

"Names mean nuthin'. Name's Sally. Sally Reynolds." She told him. She was still eying him.

"Ye look drunk. Ye supposed to drink n' drive?" She asked him, suddenly looking like she wished she hadn't gotten into the car with him.

"I've been drunker than this and I still got home safe. Can I call you Sally? I'd prefer calling you Sally." He said glancing at her.

"Ye can cal' me whaeva ye wan', Sugar." She said sweetly. She didn't normally accompany men to their homes after she finished work for the day but Thomas was different.

He looked and smelt rich. He was pretty young too.

She didn't have any illusions that he perhaps loved her or wanted to marry her like some of the younger strippers had. She was far too sensible for that. She didn't even have any intentions of getting married now or in the distant future. Love and marriage didn't exist in her dictionary.
