Pre-wedding party...
Beatrice heard a feeble knock on her door. At first, the sound blended with the wild, crazy dream she was having. She tried to drown out the noise until it became so unbearable that she realized the knock wasn't a part of her dream.
"Who is it?" She asked sleepily.
A timid-looking maid opened the door. She looked at Beatrice, hoping she wouldn't get punished.
"Begging your pardon, miss. You asked me to wake you before dawn so you could prepare for your pre-wedding party." The maid said shyly.
Beatrice scratched her sore eyes.
"Pre-wedding party? Is that today?" She checked the calendar by her bedside. The maid looked startled."Yes, miss." The girl managed to say.
"The evil day is upon us, eh? I'm awake. Thank you, Hilda." Beatrice dismissed the maid.
Hilda shut the door behind her leaving Beatrice alone with her thoughts. It was the first time Beatrice Rivera felt relaxed. She hadn't felt that way in years.
She decided to draw a bath so she could gather her swirling thoughts. She still needed to figure out some things.
As she brushed her teeth that morning, she couldn't help but stare at her beautiful face. She had the eyes of a determined woman. After she drew her bath, she hung her robe and stood naked by the tub.
She glanced at her face one last time then slipped into the tub. Soapy water covered her entire body. It helped ease her muscles which still felt sore after the whole affair with the Seeker.
After the Seeker had filled the room with some sort of smoke, everyone in the room became unconscious. A few minutes later, Beatrice and her parents were in a cab on their way to the Rivera mansion.
At first, they had thought the whole thing was a dream until they felt the indentations made by the chokers the Seeker had made them wear.
It was hard to believe they had been held hostage by unknown individuals and had been tortured into revealing their terrible secrets.
Although her parents still seemed pissed by the idea of her dating a broke boy in her teenage years, they knew better than to whine about it. The whole experience they had gone through was their fault.
When they got home, Beatrice locked herself in her room. She ordered the staff to bring all her meals to her room thus making it clear she had no desire to eat with her parents.
The staff assumed she was worried about her wedding but her parents knew better. She wanted to be alone so she could think about her future now that she was free to decide what she wanted.
Beatrice closed her eyes. She couldn't believe she was free to do as she pleased without her parents interfering. She had an ace up her sleeve. No one knew what she'd do with all the information she had. Her parents were tensely waiting to see if she would turn up for the pre-wedding party. Leila had even sent the gown she was to wear for the day.
Beatrice wrapped a towel around her wet body and drained the bath. She was satisfied with the choice she would make in a few hours. She knew what she had to do. She had always known anyway.
When she stepped out of the bathroom, the cold breeze in her room caused her to shiver.
She looked at the dress on her bed.
Her mother's taste was exquisite. She had gotten a famous designer to make it for the pre-wedding party.
Beatrice took one look at the dress and knew it wasn't right. It didn't suit the occasion. She would have to save it for another day in the not too distant future.
