*PAST TENSE*
“Wait, so you’re telling me to leave you here, alone for an hour and that you’ll find a way home?” El question suspiciously as we started walking away from the signing.
I hadn’t told her about the truth about the exchange me and Harry had moments ago. But she definitely bombarded me with questions. I had played it off like it wasn’t a big deal and to let it go, when really I was freaking out on the inside. Being the El she was, she would not, in fact, let it go. So I had made up a story about how he just thought I looked like someone he knew, and that he wouldn’t believe me that I wasn’t that person. But he finally decided to let me go, because of security.
“El, please we don’t have time to debate this.” I sighed annoyed. For once I wish she would just listen to me without questioning things. “You have to get to work. I’m a big girl. I can take care of myself.” Glancing down at my watch I saw the time was six-forty-five. Fifteen minutes until I was, supposedly, supposed to meet with the One Direction crew.
“Why do you possibly need to stay any longer for?” El kept asking questions, now getting annoyed because I wouldn’t tell her.
“I just want to go look around the stores, and stuff. I need some knew toms.” I lied. I felt bad for lying to her, and you’re probably wondering why I didn’t just tell her in the first place. I know I should’ve, but I didn’t want it to get out if Harry was actually being serious about meeting me by the escalator; which, by the way, happened to be back on the other side of the mall.
“You’re lying to me!” She yelled getting angry now. Ugh this is exactly what I wanted to avoid. I glanced around at the other shoppers. Only a couple of people notice Ellie’s outburst. Thank god! I was not one for wanting unwanted attention.
“Ellie, please quiet down. I’ll explain later, I promise!” I said, praying for her to just take that and leave. I glanced down at my watch again. It was now six-fifty. “Come on El, please.” I pleaded.
Looking annoyed, she gave in. “Fine. But you better call me and explain as soon as you get home!” She glared out starting to stomp away.
“Bye!” I called out. She didn’t even glance back. I waited for her to walk out the mall doors before I decided it was safe to the escalator. I wouldn’t put it past her to come back in and follow me.
This better be worth it. I thought as I got to the fountain and sat on the rock wall that was surrounding it. I looked down at my watch again; six-fifty-nine.
On the way over here, I passed a couple stores I would’ve liked to go in. Ones like Hot Topic and Forever21. There were getting to be a few more teens here now that it was after school hours, and it was a Friday. I saw a bunch of couples heading on up to the Cinema that was on the second floor.
As I sat waiting, I thought about how I was supposed to get home. I could always get a cab, if he didn’t show up. What if he doesn’t show up, and I was just a fan he was messing with. Thinking about that made me look at the clock again; seven-o-five.
Sighing, I got up and decided that I was probably being messed with and those boys were getting a good laugh on their tour bus right now. I was a few feet away from the escalator and fountain when I heard my name being called from the other direction.
“Sadie!” A British accent was yelling coming up behind me. He was in a hat, but you could easily see his mop of curls spilling out the sides, along with a pair of shades. “Where ya going?” He asked when he was right in front of me.
